1. Well, an interview conducted in New York
But not necessarily of New Yorkers. If you want to talk to New Yorkers, perhaps Times Square is not the place to go interviewing. It's tourist central.

Just sayin'

4. Exactly
The quickest way home from work for me is through Times Square but I avoid it because it's full of tourists who don't know how to walk in traffic. Listen to those accents.

I wish I'd been there so I could have said NO NO NO! Even if it worked--it's pretty well documented that it doesn't work but even if it did--torture is wrong. Even if you don't believe in God or some kind of Divine beyond our earthly existence, allowing the use of torture in hopes of prolonging our earthly existence is inhumane & inhuman.

I usually avoid people with microphones & cameras but now I'll be giving a listen in case these people are asking that question again. If we don't speak out against torture, especially torture being done in our name, we are complicit.

2. Clueless
The people FOR torture don't obviously know what torture is. They've only seen it in Hollywood fantasies. I bet they'd change their tune is they were just in the room when it happened.

Like was said on KO a few night ago, the only people who think torture works are those it would work on instantly. If you waterboarded that guy who thinks it's alright to "go all the way", he'd squeal in .05 seconds. Just pull one fingernail out of any of these "in some circumstances" people and they'd sell their grandmothers. People who are willing to fly planes into buildings, live in caves until they have a chance to kill Americnas....not so much.

And the "Yea's" all ignore the FACT that you don't ever get reliable info. All the info is suspect. It doesn't work. They should just go back to watching TV and stay out of the voting booth.

5. I'd like to ask those who said 'yes'
'What do you think about 'commies' and 'nazis' and Saddam Hussein using torture? I bet they are the same people who supported the war because 'Saddam tortures people' and I'm sure they used that as an argument for war at the time.

I wonder if they realize that they sound just like many citizens of countries America has most condemned should they have been asked the same questions. They are excusing war crimes if WE do it, but when others do it, not so much. I bet they talk about America being the best democracy in the world also. But they don't realize how cowardly it is to be willing to throw away all your moral principles, just because you're scared. They really are cowards.

How sad to see anyone in a so-called democracy support torture of any kind, aside from the fact that it doesn't work.

Terrible interviewer imo, she never challenged them with any questions that would have forced them to think. Such as, 'how can America ever again condemn torture then, if we do it ourselves'?
