I'd support Sestak.

1. He should definitely run
a lot can change in a year, and he could win.

3. I like Joe Sestak, but we tried to put the Kennedy assassination,
the Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy assassinations, Watergate, Iran-Contra and all the horrible scandals of the Bush II years including the theft of the 2000 election behind us -- and the Republicans went on to commit more crimes. Passing laws to remedy the crimes does not work because the Republicans violate them as they did with FISA.

For once and for all, we need to let all politicians of all sides and their staff know -- future Democrats and Republicans in high offices -- that they are not above the rule of law. Further, we need to make it very clear to our presidents, regardless of party, that Congress passes the laws. The president executes those laws. The president does not have the authority under our Constitution to repeal or pass laws by himself.

That is why we have to have prosecutions for the obvious crimes of torture and illegal eavesdropping.

The only thing that is partisan here is the Republican Party's partisan protection of its own from prosecution. Democrats do not rally round leaders who commit serious crimes. We just don't do that. I can think of numerous instances in which Democrats resigned in shame after being caught red-handed in some crime or the other. The Republican Party does not ask its leaders to take responsibility for their wrongful acts. It is the Republican Party that is partisan in this respect.

4. Jeez! Maybe, just maybe, it's his time and he can...
knock out Specter, and he probably would win the general against Toomey. Specter would probably win the general, too, of course.

But, deals are being struck all over the place, with even Rendell's wife's name being dropped for SCOTUS. The waters are far deeper than just can Sestak win-- has Sestak been promised anything to stay out of it? (Rendell can't run for Governor again.) Is there a backstabbing in the works that will get Sestak the seat after Specter has been properly used? Does Biden have something in mind and is Obama partial to it?

Powerful forces are at work and no one here knows just what's going on in the back rooms. We do know that, surprise, surprise, politicans are acting like politicians, but that's about it.
