1. i feel for women - this is entirely too close to the truth

on one level funny, on another level tragically sad

5. We live in a country that doesn't trust women to host a game show or non-daytime talk show. nt

7. I'm not sure if it's mistrust of women, or if it's worship of male aggression
The aggressive snark and male entitlement takes precedence in mixed company.

(daytime is ladies time)

11. Meredith Viera does a good job on MILLIONAIRE.
And Carny Wilson is doing The Newlywed Game, at least that's what it looked like as I channel surfed. Gwen Ifill does that Washington Week show....of course that airs in the daytime, too.

Joan Rivers had a show for the blink of an eye. Didn't last, but that had more to do with her feud with Carson.

Still not fast enough, but at least they're not babbling about kittens.

I think we're on the cusp of change. It should happened already, IMO...

17. True about Ifill, but MSNBC ratings for all its shows are shockingly low. The main networks...
still have the highest ratings.

Regis Philbin is coming back this summer with the night-time Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

Leno
Letterman
O'Brian
Fallon
...

18. MSNBC has the smallest market share, too. They're not in every hotel in America like CNN and Faux.
Odd that they don't have a female doing late night. In effect, SNL was "headed" by Tina Fey and Amy Pohler for a time there, but they both left that program. I thought when TF was pulling the strings it was a very good product.

9. "Better to be an ugly woman 'cause the pretty ones are doomed...
to a life of exploitation in those books and magazines". Zobus 1975

(please don't flame me for posting this quote- my 3 older sisters gave me "Our Bodies, Our Selves" and "Ms. Magazine" as required reading when i was an eleven year-old. i "get it", okay?)

btw- great find.

10. You dear sweet, fragile little thing
As funny as that clip was, it holds a lot of truth.

You know the old axiom: 'children should be seen and not heard' - when I was a girl, the older generation pretty much held that belief. I distinctly remember the women when they were together chatting that they were funny and smart, but when the men were around, they sat quietly, and just listened.

No wonder those women took Valium.

13. You've discovered the great Harry Enfield.
He's one of my favorites, along with Paul Whitehouse. It's a shame we don't get more of the British comedy series here. They're lightyears ahead of us.
