I get so confused, I listen to the "R" pundits on TV and I think to myself... Why are people listening to them? They make no sense at all! I came across an article in Common Dreams and I've come to the conclusion that only a small percentage of the "R" people are listening to them. I feel better now. I just could not believe that people were that delusional, not today after Obama's election. Why would our fellow Americans go so totally against their own self-interest or against the interests of their piers when it makes so much sense to not only love thy neighbor but also help thy neighbor... I'm talking about single payer health insurance... That's right Medicare for all who want it or more importantly Need it. Anyway, my apologies to the "R" people and thanks to the article entitled: Standing Against Single Payer

My Original Rant Below:
Why are "R" people so easily frightened? Why are "Rs" (too many) non-thinkers? Why are "R's" so selfish and exclusive? Don't they realize, we are all in the same boat? I was watching Ed Schultz show and he had a RRRadio talk show "R" on his show and this "Rs statement said it all, referring to Single Payer health insurance... "Ed, would you like to pay for your neighbory's health care?" Ed said, "Yes, just like I pay for his kids public ed., Defense, Fire, Police"
Rightwing talk show host Michael Medved on the Ed Schultz Show. is the epitome of the Republican Mind Set - SELFISH, EXCLUSIVE... Link Here - http://www.thethinkingblue.com/nastyR...

1. It's about self-reliance.
Why are "R" people so easily frightened? Why are "Rs" (too many) non-thinkers? Why are "R's" so selfish and exclusive? Don't they realize, we are all in the same boat?

I'm pro-single payer. I think that if a nation has trillions to spend on wars and bank bailouts then it should have enough for at least some basic level of health care for its citizens. I also think that we need to take the profit motive out of insurance, and insurance is nothing but a middle-man between the patients and the doctors.

BUT, I can understand why there is hesitation to pay for other people's health care.

This country was founded by people for whom self-reliance was not a choice, it was reality. This has lead to a definite expectation among large segments of our society that it is your own responsibility to take care of yourself and your family. Excepting charity is considered shameful by these people, and people who accept charity are considered to have failed in their own personal responsibility to take care of themselves and their families.

But another problem, perhaps a bigger problem, is that so many welfare programs are programs that "well-off" people pay for but can't use themselves. They don't mind paying for police, fire, education, and defense, because everyone, rich and poor alike, benefits. What they don't want to do is pay into a system that only poor people can use.

This is why I see it as necessary that we build a national health care system that EVERYONE can use, both those paying into it and those not paying into it.
