At her weekly meeting with Friday, Speaker Pelosi refused to answer questions about the CIA and waterboarding, referring the Press to her previous statements.

1. I'm not a great Pelosi fan;
However, it is refreshing to note that she did not back down and she did not APOLOGIZE for anything.

She has my support on this one, simple as that, she has objectives she meets them. This whole event just makes me like her. The house is moving forward at a lot faster pace since the GE and it has to be said by her leadership. Hopefully activism can get the senate in as good a shape with time.

4. I believe she's speaking the truth.

However -- I knew all this shit was happening, way back when. She didn't? I'm smarter and mnore well-informed than the Speaker of the House?

There was information available from multiple sources, and all sorts of indications -- plus, fer chrissakes, it's BUSH, fresh from a stolen election -- of course he's going to do sick things.

Someone's in a Bubble, but not me.

Hmmfh.

5. someone needs to tell Erica Wisniewski that she sucks as a reporter
her story said nothing. It imparted no information that wasn't already known. It was a waste of airtime.

6. This issue recalls the Dulles-Truman conflict.

After President Truman was out of power he began to publicly attack the CIA for having grown out of all proportion and mission from what he intended when he created it under GOP pressure. Then CIA head Allen Dulles contacted Truman and told him that, why, Truman had actually authorized what he was now criticizing, and faced with this culpability, Truman shut up. In fact, Dulles was a master of using oblique requests for authorization to later be able to argue that people like Truman had endorsed the CIA's power grabs, which they really hadn't. The CIA makes oblique or vague statements to Congress or reveals things to them squirreled away in dense reports they aren't likely to read or understand fully and then claims, why, you knew all about it. It's a game. The actual people who read those reports in the first place are legislators who have to sign a secrecy oath to be on the relevant committees, which amounts to a gag. So this already weeds out the real critics of the CIA, who don't get to be on those committees. After all, what true critic of the CIA would want to be gagged? So the CIA can maneuver to totally control and silence its critics. Which is probably what will happen to Pelosi in the end. She'll back off and shut up.
