MSNBC The Rachel Maddow Show - May 26, 2009: California Senator Barbara Boxer Reacts To Prop 8 Decision.

BOXER: "I believed the court was right the first time, when it said that under the laws, that there ought to be marriage equality. I applauded them. I thought Ron George, a Republican, Rachel, who wrote this eloquent decision just saying that you have to have the same rules of marriage in our state for people who want to get married and you shouldn't discriminate. That was important. Prop 8 was very divisive. I think in some ways we weren't really prepared for what happened. We didn't think it would happen."

"The really awful truth is that - that's really telling all the other people that they can't get married when 18,000 couples did - that sets up a terrible mess and a nightmare. We're going to have to go back to the ballot and, I believe, say to the people of California: 'Listen, whatever your feelings on this, you can't have separate rules, ipso facto, that's separate, but equal and it's not right.'... So it's a tough, tough decision and I'm very disappointed."

"This time I hope that people of good will will come together across party lines across the state and say in our state everyone must be treated equally. And I think that is something I'm going to work on very hard, Rachel."

She doesn't hide her political views but I think she's very fair and informed in her interviewing. I admit I don't get to watch every night but what I have seen has really impressed me.

which is why I am generally suspect of the rabid anti-Maddow posters on DU. To me, Maddow is the best TV available for true progressives, and a huge threat to status quo which, I believe, is the impetus behind the disdain for Maddow now appearing on this site.

Rachel Maddow disagrees with Obama's cowardly stances on Don't Ask, Don't Tell and indefinite detention. So do I. I can be rooting for Obama and Maddow both at the same time while acknowledging their differences of opinion.
