Oklahoma Cop stops an ambulance carrying a patient, puts EMT in chokehold

An Oklahoma State Trooper pulled over an ambulance on its way to the hospital Sunday, resulting in the police officer placing a chokehold on a paramedic as a patient lingered in the back.

It was all caught on video by the patient’s son, who was following in another car.

The officer was apparently upset that the ambulance did not yield for him.

However, it is evident that the ambulance had a real emergency on its hands, unlike the cop, who had been speeding towards some incident he was able to resolve in minutes, enabling him to refocus his attention on the ambulance.

The incident marks the second time this year that a police officer pulled a vehicle over as it was clearly on its way to a hospital for an emergency.

I'm sorry his feelings got hurt by whatever 'hand gesture' the driver may or may not have made, but road rage in a law enforcement officer under the cover of authority oughta be a felony so that asshole ain't ever given a chance to walk around with a gun or be a sworn officer ever again.

I'm guessing these (almost all) police depts have NO mission statement, no education requirements, no drug or psychological testing, and no mentoring for this type of position. Well, I hope the patient/ambulance/hospital's preparing a whopping, in-ur-face law suit. But somehow, I don't think this officer could figure his way out of a paper bag let alone learn any empathy. Hence the term: pig. It makes me sad for this country. Nothing's changed from 1960's.

The thing that makes this more interesting is that the ambulance workers appear to be employees of the Creek Nation and the ambulance appears to have to leave the reservation to go to the hospital. I'm expecting more to be revealed. Nothing that will get the cop off the hook, but I expect it to get more interesting.

28. The delay (with no care since the guy was being choked)

could have easily turned life-threatening. If someone is sick enough for the medics to take them to the hospital, they are too sick for a ego driven asshole to be stopping them...just saying.
I also think that is interesting that they were coming from the reservation. Thank you for pointing that out.

The officer's name is Martin, badge #606. And, after reading the report by the EMT, something you should know: Martin told the EMT he was about to pull his service revolver on him and use deadly force! Can you imagine? Shooting an EMT in route to the hospital with a patient in back!
