7. John Yoo was a law clerk
to Clarence Thomas, the most underqualified Supreme Court Justice in US history. I may be mistaken, but I believe that I remember Yoo acting as a commentator on one of the cable networks (likely Faux) during the stolen election of 2000 and the arguments and deliberations in Bush v. Gore.
It is sad that he sold his soul to the neocon Rethugs. His story could otherwise have been an inspiration for other Asian immigrants. Of course, his neocon "friends" will be most happy to let him take the fall. But when one deliberately chooses the Dark Side, and thereafter wholeheartedly embraces it as Yoo has, I have no sympathy or compassion for that person. What surprised me is that Yoo's Wiki bio says that he is married to the daughter of Peter Arnett, and I have always admired Peter Arnett. Elsa must not have the integrity of her father.

12. also clerked for Sandra Day O'Connor
He was on the PBS Lehrer Hour arguing the O'Connor should vote for Bush, days before the Gore V. Bush decision.
I am not sure if he actively was clerking for O'Connor at that time.

28. I view the dysfunctional power relationship of Addington/Yoo in the same light as Cheney/Bush.
With the "men" of higher position holding less real power and this was the deliberate setup from the get go.

8. It's only fair. He interrupted our Constitution.
And since our Constitution is a contract (breached 1/6/01), and he went through mental/legal gymnastics to write his fig-leaf memo, and it ultimately resulted (as intended) in violating our treaty obligations...

...his actions were simultaneously tortious, tortuous, and torturous.

They should force him to teach the meanings -- to his fellow prisoners.

in support of protester or glad that he was escorted out of the class?

I think they were glad to see him go - so professor Yoo Suck could get on with what ever he teaches.

After all they paid good money to take a class from this pig.

30. And it is very sick that Berkeley would have Yoo come on campus to
Teach.

This guy is one of the truly evil men. Any human being who can sit at their desk, day in and day out, designing memos regarding whether breaking a prisoner's arm in this fashion might not be torture, but breaking it in this other manner would be, and on and on, describing graphic detail "rich" descriptions of how to do what to whom, this person needs to be either in a mental ward, or in jail.

And the fact that he thought this stunt something to self-righteously smile over gave me the chills.

Chapman University located in Orange California during Fall and Spring 2008-09. He currently is not teaching at UC Berkeley. He'll teach one course in Fall 2009 at Berkeley. It really doesn't matter but I believe this clip was shot at Chapman and not UC.

39. Why did he cancel the class?
Was he afraid of the questions his paying students would ask him afterward? Was this lecture a one-time deal or will he have to reschedule or resume? It would be interesting to know if he'll be too skeered to face those students gain.

I got stuck in the South Bay at a bird adoption fair. By the time I got back, the protest was over.

We've discussed some possibilities for making his life a bit more unpleasant. Nothing illegal, just ways to show him we don't like him in our town.

46. One more time.
Why did we hate the Nazis? Because they wore different helmets than we did? Because they marched funny? Because they had an abiding love of malted grain beverages, as I do? Because they spoke German, like my ancestors? No, we could forgive all this. We hated them for their cruelty. Because they tortured. Because they violated the Geneva Convention. Just sayin'.

53. What type of person would want to learn from him?
There is a bigger problem there, a much bigger problem. Not why is he teaching, but who and why are people in the class?

Do the students and administration know what was done?

If they do, are they complicit by treating him as a teacher?

(Note that 'innocent before proven guilty' does not apply in a nation with no laws in effect due to lack of enforcement, so that reasoning does not hold or is not logical for actions of individual when dealing with people not prosecuted for political or social favoritism reason.)
