Notwithstanding the falsehoods - health care reform is a product of the liberal fringe (my own words)

What Rove said about his seven points makes perfect sense. Strategically, I see that Obama is in trouble because he rode into office on such hope. While disappointments like his foreign policy misadventures indirectly hit home, this health care fiasco hits people in their back pockets and it resonates as disappointment big-time.

The fringe right opposition could and should have been expected.

Assuming that 'public option' (expansion of insurance coverage while lowering costs) are Obama's primary objectives, two things that Rove said hit home to me that Obama should do. 1. Simplify his message 2. Control the dissension in the ranks of the Democratic Party......On this second point, Obama shouldn't have gone after bipartisanship until he controlled his own party.

While I don't think that the failure of this healthcare initiative will be the last nail in the coffin of Obama's second term, I do think that it will be one more nail in the coffin of the credibility of the Democratic Party, it will contribute to the cynicism and despair of the country. Finally it will taint the Obama presidency for its duration.

I don't think so myself. At least, I am not at all ready to give up.
Health care reform is most certainly NOT the product of the "liberal fringe." It's pretty darn mainstream, unless one invokes Faux's (or Rove's) characterization. And those who do have no credibility with me.

President Obama was elected by a huge margin. The second most cited reason for Obama support was his promise to correct the country's health care problems. That makes health care a great priority with mainstream America. I think you respect Rove because you are in training to be another Rovian puppet soldier carrying the misinformation war water here on DU.
