2. Unfortunately not enough people will leave their big bank.
Edited on Wed Jan-13-10 09:04 AM by Double T
Let's start with the core problem; elected representatives and senators at the federal and state level that absolutely refuse to regulate the hell out of these abusive, corrupt, criminal financial institutions. Make certain YOUR current elected officials do not return to office AFTER the 2010 and 2012 elections. Call, call, call the new candidates before and after the elections and remind them that if they don't start doing their job FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, they will follow their predecessor to retirement also.

7. I left
As should anyone who is irritated by big banks. Up until now, no one has countered the big banks advertising dollars with an opposing message. Time will tell if this kind of advertising has any effect.

13. You're kidding, right? You think it's easier to get rid of incumbents than to get
Americans to take their money out of banks that caused the problem and put it in banks that could help solve the problem? Have you no faith in Americans?

We think McDonalds hamburgers taste good. We love the shopping experience at Walmart. We think of chicken nuggets as chicken. We almost fell for the Republican attempt to classify ketchup as a vegetable. We even re-elect incumbents, Republicans and Democrats, about 95% of the time. We hate Congress, but we just love our guy/gal, and that's a fact.

I couldn't agree more that the core problem is that we have no clue when it comes to electing people who represent us. However, if advertising can convince people to love McDonalds, I am sure that people can be convinced to put their money in community banks.

4. I Will Be Leaving Bank of America
Which by the way wasn't my choice but instead took over my bank. I will be picking up my marbles and taking them to the local community credit union.

10. I had BofA, found out how horrible they were and kept from them like
the plague. But, like you my bank (Countrywide Mortgage) got absorbed by BofA, now I am forced to deal with them again.

F*ckers.

5. Already With Credit Union... Just Have A Problem With Morgan Stanley!
Will Have To Pay Taxes On My IRA and really can't afford to! I will try to take as much as possible out to avoid paying, but the reason I "tax deferred" was so I WOULDN'T have to pay taxes to begin with!

Rat Race??? for sure!!!

8. You can do a tax free rollover. Check out Northern Trust, Edward Jones or Google
financial advisor. ASk your credit union. You want to set up a new account and do a trustee to trustee transfer.

9. Just make sure
whoever you go with, that they are a fiduciary. If they are not they will not be looking out for your best interest over all others. This is a really big deal and the brokers have been fighting tooth and nail to avoid having that responsibility.

11. As a member of a small community bank already...
It will be my job to encourage others with the big banks to switch. My little bank has all the conveniences and programs of the big banks anyway. I really like it.

You can go to the local softball park and see their signs on the backfield fences contributing to the community; and other community publications and projects including being officers of the local chamber and charities as well.

I know. I do all my banking and updating online too. Smooth as silk.

12. Seems a logical way to go, if Congress won't break them up, the people can.
