1. Big business needs cheap labor. The facts are clear that two years of enforcing
the immigration law is working in Arizona. Not sure why the gov. needed to sign such a mean spirited law when this info. is being touted. But with only 4 % unemployment,Arizona needs to fill positions that once were filled by cheap labor. American workers have been subsidizing the wealthy long enough. Corporate America has elected official buying " we can't find workers" song again. That song is an oldy but goody for corporate America, but how will it play now that Americans across the country need work? Something about this story doesn't fit? The immigration war seems to be a sneaky way to further suppress American workers rights-count on it.

2. This is utter baloney
The man claims he let go of 12 workeers. He was likely paying them minimum wage. In the USA, a worker costs wages plus about a 24 % markup for social security and other benefits, plus let's say $1000 a month for health care - and that's being generous.

So let's work out the budget for these 12 workers:

12 workers * 2000 hours per year = 24000 hours.
24000 hours * $8 per hour * 1.24 markup = $238,000 US Dollars
Add $12,000 for medical benefits: $12,000 US dollars

Total cost of these illegal aliens: $250,000 US dollars per year.

Now, let's say he hires LEGAL immigrants for an average of $16 per hour, and also offers them health coverage: The cost is

238000 *2 + 12000 = $488,000

Thus this owner, would at worst have to hire US citizens or Legal immigrants at TWICE the wage (or $8 per hour more), and this would cause a $238,000 loss in profits (since the extra wages would be a business cost). This in turn would reduce his after income tax cash flow by $180,000 US.

On the other hand, one could argue that, by paying $8 an hour more to each worker, he can get a higher quality individual, who speaks fluent English, and is steadier and better trained (a man making $16 an hour with health benefits is less likely to quit). Therefore the efficiency in the business could go up - reducing his "losses" even more.

My conclusion? This piece is garbage, it's intended to confuse the people. The truth is the illegal alien influx is meant to help the business elites to exploit the working class, and there's a conspiracy of smart people who want the exploitation to continue, and a conspiracy of dunces who want to have the USA flooded by illegals for their own murky reasons...and these conspiracies are intended to drive a large knife in the back of the US working class.

5. Maybe 4% among Whites
Blue collar jobs are a goner, since the copper mines now use insanely big rigs, the citrus and fruit industry hires illegal immigrants and construction is dead.

Educated white folks are doing fine and I keep getting hassled by head hunters.

It's for the trailer park folks that I feel the most compassion and unfortunately these people keep voting against their own interest.

7. Must be a typo
Many of our friends make typos. I'm sure the use of the 4 % figure when it's 9.4 % was a mistake. The comment was supposed to read:

"The unemployment rate is only 9.4 % and we need more illegal aliens to make sure it's higher, this way businesses can find plenty of workers desperate enough to work a job for minimum wage, they could be so desperate they will throw in their wives' services and wash the owner's car on their own free time"

Or something like that :-)

3. Mexicans are being used several ways..
First, the corporations use them for low wages taking jobs from Legal residents and lowing the wages across the board.

Second, they are used by Republican politicians in Az to gain votes. The AZ politicians knew there would be boycotts and lawsuits but getting elected is more important.

6. The Plant Owner and that Dingbat State Rep
Edited on Sun May-16-10 10:33 PM by Mark D.
TOO F**CKING BAD! Advertise in New Mexico, next door, you imbeciles! Some of the worst unemployment is in that state. This is obviously an old video, but clearly more laws like this across America would stem the tide. The illegals COME HERE FOR JOBS! Period. Stop hiring, they'll stop hopping the border. He'll lose millions a year. He didn't say: 'my business will shut down'. Or 'my two million dollar house, and Mercedes Benz will be reposessed'. His life will go on. So will the livelihood of businesses across America faced with having to pay those DAMNED GREEDY minimum wage working American citizens. Instead of those 1/3 of minimum wage, benefit-free employees they can save so much on. Some may go out of business by choice, for lack of profit. GOOD RIDDANCE. We don't need you. Business owners SHOULD want to make a profit, but only in a way that does not bring down the common good of America. This is not a 'socialist' view no matter how the right may paint it. Not caring about the well being of fellow Americans, jobless or underpaid due to the illegals taking jobs, is UNPATRIOTIC. Let those corporatists suffer. Rehire the American workers!

8. I'm reallly surprised the American working class has taken so much time to wake up
This illegal alien flooding of the US job market was encouraged by President Bush. And President Bush was known to be a lethal enemy of the American working class, with a clear focus on making the rich get richer.

You Americans should feel sorry for those poor people living outside the USA who want to go there. I am one who is waiting for a visa to immigrate to the USA, if you would kindly give me one. :-)

But to allow all these law violators to screw the US working class is insane. I don't see how the working class in America allows this.
