1. Good Interview
I wish that Tweety would let the good Reverand Wallis have more air time.

2. Very worthwhile discussion...
...although as always, I wish Tweety would let his guest speak more! However, it is more forgivable this time than most IMO, because Tweety obviously feels passionate about what is happening in the Gulf, as do so many of us, and it really is hard to contain oneself on the topic.

Still it was irritating since I wanted to hear more of what the Reverend had to say.

3. Excellent interview.
I wish that we could hear a lot more from Jim Wallis.

I'm just now finally reading The Family. I am very familiar with the protestant fundamentalist culture described in the book. I grew up in communities that were full of people with ideas similar to those of The Family. I saw how those ideas trivialized the humility that is a necessary part of spiritual growth and not just Jesus' teachings but those of virtually every major religion. Our whole society has paid a terrible price as that philosophy has surged in popularity.

It is an elitist, cold and calculating, regardless of how much Christian terminology it uses.

So finally, we hear a sincere, humble, truly spiritual leader on TV: Jim Wallis.

I have to say that Jim Wallis is not the only one who is speaking from a truly spiritual source. I would like to hear more not just from him but from other intelligent religious or spiritual leaders like him respond to news stories. I'm talking about people who aren't trying to sell me on easy answers that enrich only the rich and destroy the earth. I don't want cheap slogans. I want to hear people who talk about responsibility to others and to God's creation and who inspire our leaders to talk about those things also.

Thanks, Tweety for daring to talk about real morality on TV, for daring to invite Jim Wallis to your show. Great job.

I wouldn't want to hear this every night. But surely it would not be too much to invite a leader in the humanist spiritual community like Jim Wallis to speak on TV. I wish Jim Wallis had his own radio show. Woops. Maybe I missed something. Does he?
