2. Justin's on a roll- good work!
Although I have mixed feelings on immigration (legal or not), the AZ way of handling it is all wrong. I'd call it traumatizing. My observations since the early 80's to today:
1. too many immigrants
2. government relocated many minorities and immigrants to out-lying towns to mask the true numbers (although it is painfully striking in cities)- much like the oil spill
3. the cia has quite a hand in drug cartells for profit, just like Afghanistan
4. immigration (legal or not) went hand-in-hand with the economic boom of the 90's creating demand
5. often immigrants occupy lower level employment that used to go to students who now rely on parents until age 25
6, contributes to the slow lowering of wage and abolishing of unions
7. outsourcing and off-shore corporate departments are, in essence, worse because these foreign employees add nothing to our economy, have no vested interest
....I re-watched 'Invisible'Empire' last night. It is no surprise about immigration or anything else which slowly erodes personal freedom and the living-wage concept. Justin, I always find it worthwhile to check out your latest.

3. Let me help your MIXED feelings...
#1. Last time I checked, unless you are Native American, You are either an immigrant or a descendant of an immigrant. (Why is it so difficult for the Auslander to accept other Auslanders?)

#2. Gov relocation? You mean like Vidor Texas? How many people are re-located a year per town? (Do you have a link to this B.S.?)

#3. What does the drug cartel have to do with Immigration? (Nothing... it's another Fox News talking point.)

#4. Immigration created a demand for what? (Border patrol jobs?)

#5. Welcome to 2010, jobs like picking lettuce and other migrant labor related fields have always been reserved for migrant workers, prison parolees, and the uneducated. Full time Students don't do full time employment. Summertime jobs are not in the harvest season.

#6. No it doesn't. Last time I checked, Wang's all you can eat Chinese Buffet does not employ union employees.

#7. I stopped watching Right Wing propaganda. Wages have always been inadequate, and "The Man" represses whomever he can to keep control of him/her. Immigrants are the bonus plan.

I hope that I have helped your MIXED Conservative feeling out.

4. AY Captain
Thanks for the rantastic reply, but then I see that I could have worded some things better at the end. For this I apologize. I've lived through 6+ decades. I qualified my points as observational, not scientific. Some of your points show that you didn't listen to Justin, such as drug cartells mentioned and my point was confirming that it would go on with or without immigrants because a faction of the government uses it for profit, right behind wea.pons trading. Also I'm from a northern tier state, urban orientation, and Canada so my references are local. No I'm not right wing, just want to stick to reality. This issue resolution is just very complicated and 2 decades overdue.
There is a difference between my great great great grandparents coming here with substantial capital(legally) and me myself sneaking over a border (illegally)with pocket change. I agree with Thom Hartmann's solution. I expected some response like yours and I appreciate it. Hope I've clarified a little and acknowledged your effort.
