A report today from Fox 8 in New Orleans reveals that the "orange blobs found lodged in the bodies of tiny blue crab larvae collected from marshes that stretch from Texas to Florida" appear to contain Corexit, according to preliminary results from researchers at Tulane University.

The report says BP's dispersant "may do more harm than the oil itself."

University of New Orleans' Martin O'Connell, Ph.D said, "No one really knows" if Corexit will bio-accumulate. "If you're a small fish and you eat 1,000 of these small crab larvae and all of them have oil or Corexit droplets in them they could get into the fish — that little fish could be eaten and so on and so on."

1. No one knows-not even BP-what the long term effects are of this toxin. Have they
even stopped spraying it or pumping it into our ocean? If you or I were to intentionally poison a lake or stream we'd be in prison. BP is poisoning the whole Gulf in front of us all, flouting the FDA, and completely getting away with it.

3. Is anyone telling us not to worry? I don't watch TV.
But as someone with chemical sensitivities who lives only 50 miles from the Gulf and who has been sick for more than two months I can tell you, I'm fucking worried.

I understand about chemical sensitivity. My son was diagnosed with dermatomyositis eight months after being exposed to malathion spraying in California.

5. I'm thinking that this stuff could put a major crimp
in the overall food chain.

6. Not "could" or may or might... Those are weasel words so common today.
HAS. As has the Great Pacific Garbage Dump contaminated the food chain. ECONOMICS demands seafood be deemed safe to continue commerce. Anyone with the common sense G_d gave a billygoat and no financial interest in eating poisoned food will perhaps think twice. Or thrice.

7. It's pretty obvious we'll all be eating Corexit. Or are eating already. nt
