But who would you trust, this guy, or the people who live there and work there and who have been living this nightmare for the past three months? Not Even Gulf Fishermen Buy The Government's 'Smell Test' Policy On Oil-Exposed Seafood.

VENICE, La. — Seafood from some parts of the oil-fouled Gulf of Mexico has been declared safe to eat by the government, based in part on human smell tests. But even some Gulf fishermen are questioning whether the fish and shrimp are OK to feed to their own families.

Some are turning up their noses at the smell tests – in which inspectors sniff seafood for chemical odors – and are demanding more thorough testing to reassure the buying public about the effects of the oil and the dispersants used to fight the slick.

"If I put fish in a barrel of water and poured oil and Dove detergent over that, and mixed it up, would you eat that fish?" asked Rusty Graybill, an oysterman and shrimp and crab fisherman from Louisiana's St. Bernard Parish. "I wouldn't feed it to you or my family. I'm afraid someone's going to get sick."

6. I love the quote "Dispersants have been a really important tool in the fight"
Edited on Tue Aug-03-10 11:36 AM by TheEuclideanOne
Yeah, the fight to hide the evidence. I love how he follows up with "clearly it has created alot of concern as well". I would love to see him slip up and tell the truth by following up with " since the science shows that those dispersants are fatally toxic and will kill anything that consumes it. Nonetheless, we are extremely thankful for it since it accomplished the awesome combination of showing less oil that we would need to clean up or be accountable for and poisoning the environment at the same time." A quick shout out to the EPA and the Coast Guard for making this happen.

Regarding the asshole who said he and his family would eat the fish from the gulf right now, I would love to see the video of him sitting down with his family to eat the fish. Perhaps for their entertainment, they could watch the scientists show them a cool experiment. They can see how the water can explode out of a test tube. I am not a scientist, but I don't think that water is really supposed to do that. However, the water that their dinner was just swimming in does, so that will make it all the more fun.

Lastly, let me interpret the statement of "We will not leave until the cleanup is completely finished!". Here is what is going to happen. The oil spill will be capped then somebody will make the announcement of "Hey, what do you know. The cleanup is now completely finished". I am sure that the company that hired people to show up on the beaches for a photo shoot and then sent them home immediately after has no intentions for cleanup up squat.

He'd have the maid serve Gulf fish to his family.

He's probably off to eat over at C Street house or something.
