1. I was pissing almost pure blood

In 2006, I was standing in front of the VA rep hunched over in pain holding/pressing against my left kidney because it hurt so bad. I gave him my VA card from 1969, told him this was my first visit since then, that I had lost my health insurance when I lost my job (that went away when Jeb took all the Everglades Restoration money and gave it to his brother to blow up Iraq), and I needed their help now.

That was when I learned that in 2003 Bush and Cheney made me a Group 8 veteran, and I was nothing to them. When a VA doctor showed up in the lobby and saw mean in pain, he said there was nothing he could do. "We wouldn't turn anyone away in pain, but you're not eligible here anymore, so you should go to an emergency room." I guess that "Hippocratic oath" thing don't mean shit when it comes to Vietnam era veterans.

So after getting a big Fuck You from the VA, I raided my 401(k) for $8,000 and went and got a kidney stone operation (the damn thing was the size of one of those little chocolate easter eggs....it smarted!)

A huge thanks for posting this video. Sonuvabitch, the president actually fixed this screw job for us lowly Group 8'ers. Thank you Mr. President!

2. There are 500,000 stories like ours, where is the story on the news?

I lost my job and when I went to use my VA I found out I had lost my benefits. I have a close friend who did the same thing. He had a mild heart attack, went to the VA and he was denied. The last time I talked to him he was $16K in the hole.

Same with unemployment. My guess is they haven't been screwed yet. Many change their tune once they are on the slippery slope.

It was barely reported of course- And I thought to myself 'This scumbag is about to start a war, and he's cutting veterans' health benefits. Nice.' It nicely illustrated to me exactly what this video says: Bush was all about praising the troops while they were in uniform, but once they were no longer useful to him (like when they came back from Iraq with their legs blown off) they were just another poor person living off the government cheese.

Did anybody else see that news special in 2006 about the Iraq vets with catastrophic brain injuries? There was one guy they featured in it who was something like 23 years old, and couldn't leave his bed. Couldn't eat or go to the bathroom by himself, couldn't talk, probably wasn't even conscious. His bedroom was full of medical equipment that kept him alive, and -here's the best part- his mother was paying for all of it! His veterans' health benefits had only covered the first year. After that his hourly-wage-earning mother had to pay for everything herself. Meanwhile Bush was off playing golf somewhere.

watch a 5+ min vid that's got slow commentary. The facts are great however in the vid. I've said similar things before to them about how B*sh didn't give a damn, if you went by policy, for the regular military guys.
