2. perkins wouldn't know "sanity" if it jumped up and bit him on the nose.
How sad. These christian fools wave their Bibles in the air and chant "the sky is falling" to try to push homosexuals back into the closet. What hypocritical ass holes.

I am so disgusted by these "Cleaver family fantasy buffoons". Just go pray in your bedrooms, and let the rest of us live in peace without your made-up,twisted bull shit.

17. I enjoy it when these RR-types are dragged out from their natural habitats like FOX
...and they actually have to defend their stance with reason a logic!

I'll bet they hate having to appear on shows that ask them to explain their "beliefs" with real evidence!

5. That pesky evidence
Don't you just hate when you lose your argument simply by not having a stitch of evidence to support your case?

6. They do have evidence!!
It's the Bible. The Bible trumps the Constitution. But only parts of the Bible count I guess, as I enjoy this delicious shrimp cocktail!! :)

7. Fuck you Tomy Perkins you lying piece of shit...
Tony wants for nothing more than to see his bigotry upheld by law, and that is not going to happen.

It is unconstitutional for the court to upheld a position of religious ideology, that crosses the line between church and state. Moreover, this prop 8 shit should have never had gone for a vote, knowing that there is no reason to have a vote on BASIC CIVIL RIGHTS. Mr. Boise is correct, and as usual, the religious nuts have no empirical evidence to back up their assumptions or their arguments.

I do not appreciate that there had to be a vote and a court case, just so I could privately decide if I want to marry or not, it is none of their fucking business who the hell I marry. Perkins and the rest of that ilk need to mind their own damn business and shut the fuck up; they can take their bronze age desert dogma and shove it up their ass.

Neither did those people of different races who wanted to marry too!

I wonder why no one brings that up?

8. Too late
If Perkins had all that good evidence to support his beliefs about this issue, why didn't he give all of it to the defendants in the trial? Sorry but, it too late to make your case after the trial is over.

I bet Tony's helpers are sending out letters asking for donation so he can do... well. nothing except lie some more on Fox. Stir the big pot of hate and fear.

10. If you watch the video a couple of times... Notice
that Perkins uses Conservative buzzwords, Nancy Pelosi, Liberal, and a few others to throw down his BS talking point.

My only worries are that "they" have some C-Street people in on the Supreme court who are lackeys for Religious Right posse. Each time you beat these bastards back down under their rock, they come out in larger numbers, or manage to dork some constitutional right...

He doesn't have evidence and this is really a nice eye opener.
Want to beat the Religious Right?
Take their sorry asses to court.

12. The "Informed" Voter
Perkins keeps stating that the judge went against the votes of seven million Californians, but Perkins is assuming that the majority of these voters had complete and unbiased information to make an informed decision. Do not get me wrong. I'm not saying that Californians are stupid, but sometimes a whole host of people can be on the wrong side of an issue. For example, for a long time, millions of people thought that chattel slavery was okay, but as we've become a more progressive nation and world, we have -- mostly -- moved away from that belief.

14. The bottom line is that these right wing Christians find
same sex marriage morally repugnant, and they believe they should be allowed to impose their values on the rest of the country through the force of law. It's just like the way they interfere on the abortion issue, imposing their religious beliefs on the rest of the country. Why don't they put that one up for a referendum vote. The majority of Americans don't want Roe V Wade overturned, any more than they'd want the right to have a no fault divorce overturned.

16. I love this quote . . .
"We put fear and prejudice on trial, and fear and prejudice lost." This is the best summary of this case and the entire gay marriage debate. All the anti-equality people have going for them is fear and prejudice, and thankfully our Constitution is based on freedom and justice.

18. wow
Perkin's argument is basically 'because the church has determined that marriage is between a man and a woman' so is the law of the country. It's simply appalling how these people use the constitution to fit their twisted thinking rather than the merits of it. Of course this coming from a group who use to burn people as witches because someone else pointed the finger.

If SCOTUS gets involved in "activism" it will the same grave mistake it was in 2000 when they stopped the tallying in FL. Sandra Day O'Connor lost my respect then. As Justice Stephen Breyer wrote: "We do risk a self-inflicted wound - a wound that may harm not just the court, but the nation." These same words were used by Chief Justice Charles Evans Hughes in 1928 to describe the damage the court had done to itself and the country when it ruled in the 1857 Dred Scott case that black people could not be US citizens.

They're going to try to appeal on voter's rights should overrule the Constitution, but we don't have a direct democracy do we. Yes 7 million people can be wrong. The Constitution said they were.

19. If ONLY the ruling had made Perkins speechless!
And I am sick to death of this "going against the definition of marriage throughout history" crap. I would bet that if one studied the entire history of the Human race, you'd find a harem situation was the real "traditional" marriage. How about the buying and selling of wives and daughters? Christianity and Western Civilization have not and ARE not all there is in this big world

And I love the idea that the general population of 13 states know more about the law than a judge with decades of experience.

And if the judge being gay disqualifies him because of.... I dunno, special interests?... doesn't a hetero judge have the same problem? The gay judge is gonna rule in favor of "his kind" but the straight judge isn't?

Boy, these prop 8 fools can look all serious and stuff, but they are still a joke! Who the hell spends so much time and effort worrying about what other people they never will meet are doing at home? Oh that's right.... religious show offs.

22. The pugs have learned, knowing they own the propaganda horn;
Edited on Mon Aug-09-10 02:30 PM by ooglymoogly
That if no facts are on their side and their arguments don't hold water; Its simple; Just bald face lie; Construct evidence from whole cloth, or whatever it takes, to keep the house of cards from blowing away in fogs of man made disasters, unending wars and catastrophe's to bring us to those unending wars, run away brides....and guess what? That Machiavellian formula is working.

The pugs exposed their evil, when in 2004, an aid to "W" quoted "we make our own reality"; A quote that should have sent shockwaves around the world, but only brought a hiccup, that the corporate press, for the most part, willfully ignored.

There are at least 60 million folks out there who don't want to hear the truth, think the truth is blasphemous and dangerous to the bubble they live in; Who since birth are used to living under the cover of fantasy, the made up; The impossible pipe dreams, the absurd; On whose heartbeat, folks like John Waters has his thumb, making a hilarious living putting them in the spotlight of derision.

While corporate press, crooked elections and crooked pols turn that 60+- million, perhaps 50% of whom actually vote, neatly, into a fabricated majority; The biggest lie of all and the one necessary to keep themselves in control; And with a shurefire and foolproof insurance policy of DINO's, Bluedogs and DLC'ers, shure to make them smile when they are low.

Corporate America has bet the farm that the confusion caused by these lies will overwhelm the majority by the constant trumpeting by corporate media.

The true majority, wild cards they are, cannot always be depended on to accept the crooked house of cards; Especially when the propaganda gets to absurd to believe;

And most particularly, when their own lives hang in the balance and are threatened; As that giant lie et al, helps no one but the string pullers; Whose power depends on dividing folks with abortion, gay rights and homosexuality.

They will do whatever it takes to protect those lies and they certainly are not threatened by O.

The lies, that, sadly, are known to a relative few of the diligent; Whose brain, still living in the real world, cannot accept; Such obvious mendacity, distortions and the vast and unending propaganda necessary to uphold a house of cards, whose foundation is nothing more than lies.

Thank you David Boies for making this weakness in their house of cards clear, once again.
