4. So am I. First, they ban all religious symbols
no matter how tastefully Christian they might be. In fact, the conditions for dress for employees who deal with the public are very clearly spelled out and have been for years. Second, they did offer her work out of the public eye during the month of Ramadan, allowing her to wear the scarf there.

She doesn't have a legal or moral leg to stand on in this case. Disney's rules are very clearly set out and alternative jobs were offered.

If she needs the money, she'll either bag the scarf or work behind the scenes.

My guess it isn't about anything but her perceived right to violate the terms of her employment in the name of her religion, to hell with everybody else.

We all know Disney won't have any trouble filling her position if she stomps off in a snit if she's not willing to make a compromise.

5. "tastefully christian"? What is that?
All of your points I agree with and support, but I don't get what "tastefully christian" is.

8. The wee gold execution device on the thin gold chain at the throat
is unacceptable wear for people dealing with the general public.

Dress is religiously neutral, facial hair is appropriate to the character, hair color is found in nature, that sort of thing.

9. I'm not being obtuse, but....
if it is religiously neutral, how is it "christian" at all?

6. Imagine what the world would be like if everyone did just that
and "left their religion at home"......

The Louis Armstrong song comes to mind "what a beautiful world".......

3. I'm not a big fan of Disney,
but they aren't being unreasonable. It appears that they really did try to work with her and she was just trying to make a statement (or possibly a lawsuit?).

10. She has NO LEGS to stand on.
Disney "look" has been, is and ever shall be the DISNEY "look." If you can't handle it, work somewhere else. The rules are the same for EVERYONE. Are black female employees sporting braids or dreads there yet?

Couldn't find anything current for Disney, but here's Six Flags:

11. I'm in full agreement with Disney, too. This isn't like...
...she was working in the back room at UPS shipping packages and her Christian employer, the one wearing a big cross and carrying the Bible, forbade her to wear the headscarf. If Disney says no yarmulke or other religious caps, no crosses, stars or angel tattoos, if they maintain their employee dress code for everyone who interacts with customers (in short, have a uniform), then they're being reasonable and fair in their objection, not bigoted. And if they offered to work it out, even more so.

12. I was all ready to be pissed at Disney...
but I too can't see what they have done wrong here. In fact, it seems that at least on this issue, they are doing things right.

The fact that I have to side with Disney on this one. I am off to take a shower, I feel dirty.

15. When you play a theatrical role, you have to wear the appropriate
costume. If a Christian were playing a Muslim, she would have to wear the jihab. It's just an act, and the jihab is not appropriate to her garb. Disney is not prohibiting her from wearing the jihab when she isn't playing her role.

Disney is right.
