voluntary during the HCR debate...that people had the option to buy-in? Has Dick gone all socio-fascist-Canadian on us?

4. They already are.
There is no requirement to sign up for either your ss or medicare benefits. I am all for nutbaggers not signing up. On the other hand the taxes are mandatory and need to stay that way.

12. Precisely, Warren Stupidity.
If he doesn't want to take his benefits, that is his choice.

But we all need to pay in. That is because you can be very wealthy today and have no money for retirement when you are 89. And if you are penniless at 89, you should have contributed to the funding of a system that takes care of people like you.

Interestingly, I have a very good friend who claims to be a Fox-loving staunch Republican. She CHOSE to defer a knee operation until she turned 65 -- so that Medicare would pay for it. She had the operation within a week after her 65th birthday.

Most Republicans choose Social Security and Medicare benefits when it comes time. They are just cheap and don't like paying for anyone else. What a bunch of selfish people.

7. opt-out
Edited on Thu Aug-19-10 01:57 PM by Roy Rolling
I'll entertain that notion if I can also opt-out of the giant portion I have to pay for defense spending and just buy my own defense. That's how it used to work up until World War 2. The US didn't have a full-time gigantic weapons producting industry, they built as needed. Most of the weapons systems produced over the last 50 years are aging and obsolete so that money was spent for nothing.

8. You mean like a "public option," Dick?
By the way, what side did you come down on for a "public option" during the health-care debate?

14. So social security at the most is about 1300 a month and
if they republicans can sucker people into giving it to wall street, tell me where would all those people who GAVE IT TO WALL STREET like Bush wanted be today. Those with 401Ks and all those retirement plans were completely WIPED out. Most had to go back to work if they could find a job. So what would this POS be telling those who lost their social security now. And Medicare be a choice, if so, what in the hell would Armery give them as a choice. THEY SURE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO PAY THE COST OF A HEALTH INSURANCE PLAN. the price for a lot have risen so high even those people making a reasonable salary cant afford health care insurance. The republicans are just messing their pants and getting that old cojoans a heck of a lot bigger thinking about all that social security money they could have.
