UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is urging the international community to show generosity to the people of Pakistan. Mr. Ban visited the flood-devastated nation on Sunday and said more money is urgently needed for immediate needs including food, shelter and health care. Responding to that call, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced that the United States is increasing its flood aid to Pakistan to 150 million dollars. VOA's Margaret Besheer reports from the United Nations, where a special General Assembly session was held Thursday on the situation in Pakistan.

Those kids crying at President Zadari was just too much to take.

This thread should be called "One of the greatest tests of America's compassion in our times".

4. I was happy to hear from Hillary in this video, that the U.S.
has increased its financial commitment. She looks tired.

America's Commpassion is being tested for sure. But I have faith that most people are compassionate, it's a difficult time for many Americans also, people who would normally give are having their own problems now. Another sad result of the financial collapse of this economy.
