How many Christian churches have been build on conquered ground and holy sites of other religions? I know several sites it not all the churches (many designated cathedrals). Here's how it works: St. Sophia in Constantinople (Istanbul) was built on the site of a Roman temple built on the site of a Greek temple. Then the Turks take Constantinople and convert St. Sophia to a mosque which is now a museum to the history of the site and the ancientness of the structure. It seems that it is the place which felt sacred and each religion and cult (Greeks, Romans and their predecessors) wants to show reverence there. To me that is a good thing.
