If this doesn't convince you to switch to a different economic system I don't know what will.

1. Have to go watch it on YouTube. I'm kind of surprised, I'd have thought that
during the reign of the Robber Barrons it was more extreme, if only because they didn't pay taxes and there were no protections for the workers. This will be interest. And infuriating. And heartbreaking. Heading on over now.

2. But, but we have more millionaires in this country than ever. And that's good.
That was an argument that my BIL made a few months ago. Like, that's a sign that the country's economy wasn't so bad during the Bush years. When I responded that the concentration of wealth in this country is the worst it's been since the Great Depression, he gave me this baffled look. Then, I looked at him in the eye and said that it means that the middle class is disappearing.

He runs a home construction business. He SHOULD understand the effects of a disappearing middle class on his business. Another BIL, who's just as right-wing, works for GM, and you'd think he'd understand the effects of a disappearing middle class for his company's sales. But, they're around a radio most of the time, listening to Limbaugh, Hannity, et al, and hanging around other RWers who do the same thing. They just feed off of each other without even thinking if their beliefs match what happened to our economy.

3. It's the sad truth
Most working-class Americans have this false consciousness that it's only the fault of "the government" without looking at the capitalist system and who the system serves.
