5. Being from Alaska.....

...is what it's about. No matter what people outside of Alaska might think, Ted Stevens has been a pol that everybody from Alaska knows (and most respect - even the Dems) since the territory became a state. And the other point that the Dems up there are driving home right now, is about all the politicians that have come from somewhere else to run for office in Alaska.
