There were a number of outstanding speeches at the rally -- Harry Belafonte's was one of them. He has such a rich and long history of fighting for human rights both nationally and internationally, he's a deeply felt sentimental favorite of mine.

I do wish though, that I shared his optimism. If it was a simple matter of having the Democrats in the majority and in the WH, we would already see the endless wars for profit ended.

We would already have the values in our houses restored. And we would already have JOBS.

Instead the wars continue, funded by the majority. The housing values are continuing to fall, because we followed Bernancke/(Paulson)/Geithner's vision rather than the for the people vision that the government of Ireland followed recently.

And jobs are few and hard to find, and the money is already given to the people in the Top Institutions, so the idea that jobs will return if we jsut vote "D" may not be so valid.

7. Thanks for posting -- thought I had all of his YouTube videos saved but

missed the Martin Luther King song. Heart grabbing! I absolutely love this man -- so bright, so courageous, so classy, so incredibly talented,.....(of course I have to also throw in so stunningly handsome!)

Returning the favor here -- one of my favorite songs is Try to Remember from The Fantasticks/Fantastiks (the original was spelled the second way -- I now see it spelled the first way). I saw it many years after Jerry Orbach premiered the song in 1960. I wore the album with Orbach singing this song out!

But I think my favorite versions are Harry Belafonte's. Here are two versions -- one old one when he looks quite young and a more recent one. Just beautiful.
