4. This from the guy who tried to shut down the Apollo program
I'd rather Obama use an "idiot board" instead of being a short sighted idiot like Mondale.

5. I wouldn't know POTUS had a teleprompter if I didn't see it in some
photos. I think he uses them as reference/outline. He talks to his audience, what is Mondale talking about? Old man needs a nap, take McCain with ya...

Obama to succeed? Is he in training to take over for Rush?

7. Why is it...

Because this is all they got!

I know... pitiful. He's not a linguistic genius like Bush!.... or the Great Communicator! (as long as Peggy Noonan writes the communications)

12. Hey Walter, check out what the country thought of your opinion in '84!

You lost to a guy who's name headlined below a chimpanzee. Not just lost, you were fucking clobbered. By some old withered nutsack who had already proven his malicious and destructive intentions towards our country.

Sir, anyone who could lose to Reagan in 1984 needs to never speak again. Go! Go wallow in your shame.

13. Did he even win Maryland that year...?
As far as I recall, he only won his home state and D.C.

But the comment about "anyone who could lose to Reagan in 1984" is misplaced. I don't think any Democrat could have beaten Bonzo in that "morning in America" year, and I very much doubt they could have racked up any more states, either. Ronnie was at the height of his popularity, the economy had turned around from the '81-'82 recession and was booming, and there was a huge surge in jingoism "patriotism" after the Soviet shootdown of KAL007, our "we got there just in time" invasion of Grenada, and the "U!S!A! U!S!A!" Olympics in Los Angeles. In other words, it was the absolute height of conservatism of the last half-decade. I'd say that virtually any Democrat who ran that year would have been a lot closer to dropping all fifty states than winning more than two or three.

And, besides, anyone who wants to talk about electoral-vote totals has to face the inconvenient fact that George McGovern, right up there with Teddy Kennedy as one of the great liberal lions, only managed to win one state in his '72 race against Nixon.

15. Talk to the hand!
Most everyone who has given an ACCURATE speech has relied on notes.

Just because Bush didn't give a shit doesn't set any standard worth striving for!

Mondales still alive?

16. Teleprompters were invented so that presenters could read & look at the audience at the same time
instead of having to look down at printed sheets of the podium.

Mondale has used them. Blitzer uses them. Every president since Johnson (at least) has used them.

How is it that Obama's use is different?

17. Oops... I have never seen any of those bloompers.... Good thing he remained
unmoved by the teleprompter falling over.... Those other gaffs are more difficult to watch though.... Too bad he doesn't have a monitor that lies flat, that would move along with the other prompter, on the podium.

18. Fox News must've screwn up this old man's brain.
Hard to believe that Mondale is a liberal if you've never heard of him (he was VP with the Jimmy Carter administration).

20. I'm not a fan of Mondale either . . .
But I think his point about Pres. Obama speaking comfortably without using Teleprompters has some merit. Unfortunately, his choice of the phrase "idiot boards" all but ensures he has written a couple of campaign commercials for the GOPhers (sort of like Sen. Kennedy's "No more Jimmy Carter!" rant in '80).
