The United States citizens have the right to speak freely, only if it does not have an effect on the status quo. Since the 1960's where there were authentic social movements, there has been a loss in the demonstration movement. Recently, there have been many instances where people or activists who disagree are being quieted by US law enforcement.

4. Yep.
Turns out that even when Ike warned us about the MIC, it was already too late.

2. I am so confused about what is considered Free Speech
Have you heard what Rush Limbagh says lately? Calling the president an idiot - all kinds of stuff I couldn't believe.
I also can't believe it would have been okay to say about Bush at the time. I don't understand exactly what's going on. It seems like you can say any foul thing possible against a democrat but you risk arrest or censure if you say the same thing about a republican. Can anyone explain this to me??

7. Yes, I was thinking about this myself tonight...
An idiot on a mainstream site where I discuss stuff called the president a "jackass" specifically to take after Rush. There was barely a peep from the liberals who mostly just made substantive points against his post but didn't complain about the language or tone.

On the other hand, I pause for a moment and ask what would have happened on the site if a liberal had called Bush a "jackass" (which he most assuredly was except that that description is an insult to jackasses). It would have been a shit storm of historic proportions. Not the same as the full blown free speech issue to be sure but I'm sick of the double standard and hypocrisy.

8. Is there anything over the line or inciting violence?
When Glen Beck was talking about the Ed Schultz march in washington he was saying how the people
were going to be a dangerous lot. It was bad.
I Remember when it was a big thing when, what's his name, said something about "nappy headed hos"?
That may have been the last thing I heard about people getting upset by speech.
I don't know, If I hear certain tapes from Glen Beck or Rush Limbagh I wonder, why that's acceptable?
- I'm confused as hell on this one. What are the rules? Are they new rules? Like within the last few
years cause it looks like I missed them?

5. K&R
"Democracy is a con game. It's a word that was invented to placate people. To make them accept a given institution. All institutions sing "we are free." The minute that you hear "freedom and democracy" watch out. Because in a truly free nation, no one has to tell you, you're free." ~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qlgzTlAvOo&feature=player_embedded">Jacques Fresco
