This is a question we have submitted to YouTube for their CNN aired Republican Debate in November. Got any thoughts?

1. It's not just how they'll claim to be different.

No doubt every Republican candidate will scramble to come up with something to distance themselves from this worthless, heartless, inept and corrupt administration.

What you should ask yourself is how will they be the same? What aren't they telling you? Each candidate will offer token "improvements" while ignoring the elephants in the room - the major problems facing our country that the GOP refuses to address.

No GOP contender will be willing to abandon the party's pro-corporate sellout stance of looking out only for the rich and the powerful corporations. This administration including the previous Republican Congress has not done ONE thing to help the average person, working people, poor people, or the middle class. Or anybody who isn't rich and white.

Ron Paul may say he'll restore our constitutional rights that have been dismantled by Bush. (The rest don't seem to care.) But he's not going to do a thing about healthcare or Social Security, because he believes in "small government", a mantra that has caused so much harm to America. We have bridges falling down and levees that failed in New Orleans because Republicans would rather cut inheritance taxes and give oil companies more loopholes than to spend money on anything necessary to provide real protection or help real people.

Most if not all of the Republicans also still support this immoral war. No matter that it was based on lies (there were no WMDs and Saddam was not behind 911), or that it's been bungled in its execution, or that 67% of our wounded soldiers have traumatic brain injuries--all for no good reason. Or that we're spending our children's futures on a war that our own military leaders now say can't be won.

Most also continue to deny that global warming is caused by man's activities and ignore the critical need to take action while there is still time to save our planet.

We have far too much to risk by voting Republican in the next election, especially for President, Congress and Senate.

Now what do we know about the Democrats?

All want to stop global warming.
All want to end the war.
All have some plan to provide real healthcare solutions, though each has a different plan.
All are more likely than any Republican to provide help to benefit average people, working people, and people who aren't rich white men or big corporations.

Democrats won't waste your money on wars with Iraq and worse, Iran. They will invest money in REAL protections such as security at our ports and screening of all baggage at airports. They will protect us against REAL threats to our safety, such as tainted foods from China and the outsourcing of U.S. jobs overseas.

Democrats are more apt to restore our constitutional rights and stop spying on us without warrants. If you don't want Uncle Sam reading your emails and eavesdropping on your phonecalls, vote Democratic. If you want to save our courts from the appointment of political pro-corporate hacks (remember the Justice Dept. scandal, firing all the US attorneys illegally?) vote Democratic. If you don't want a Supreme Court composed of all right-wingers who will eliminate protections for workers, minorities, etc., vote Democratic. The current high court is already a majority of conservatives, and the oldest justices ready to retire are the only liberals. We need balance. Already this court has tossed out many protections. Next up could be elimination of school desegration, women's rights and our protections for clean water and air.

Republicans want to outlaw all abortions, even when a mother's life is in danger or when a young girl has been raped. Yet under the Bush administration, the number of abortions has actually gone UP, not down. If you oppose abortion, voting Democratic would actually be likely to reduce the number of abortions because more women would have healthcare and more people would have better jobs. The number one reason why women seek abortions is because they think they can't afford to have another child. Also, if you are pro-life, you should support saving ALL lives. What about our soldiers in Iraq? Or the Iraqi children being born deformed, some without eyes, because of the depleted uranium from our weapons. And what about children in our own country who are dying at higher rates than ever because their families don't have healthcare - and President Bush just VETOED a bill passed by Democrats that would have provided healthcare to poor children! Isn't it at least as important to protect children who are already born as those still in the womb?

The economy under recent Republican administrations has been weaker than under Democrats. Who wasn't better off under the Clinton administration than now? (Unless you own Halliburton or Blackwater, or some other corporate crony!)

Republicans have appointed industry hacks to oversee agencies that are supposed to protect us. Results? Mine cave-ins, poisining of our air and water, etc.

Yes, Democrats might raise taxes. But it would be only on the wealthiest of the wealthy and the corporate cronies who are not paying their share. And you will reap the benefits - gaining far more than this would cost. This is a wise investment in our future.

With Democrats, we are more likely to see peace, a cleaner environment, more jobs and better wages, affordable healthcare or better yet, free universal healthcare, more affordable college tuitions, help for the poor, rebuilding of our nation's infrastructure, restoration of the rights of workers, investment in clean renewable energy solutions so we won't be dependent on foreign oil, an end to the politics of hate and fear, and a return to the U.S. being respected by our allies around the world - not hated.

Ask yourself which party poses the greatest risk to America and the world?

What could Democrats do that you'd be so afraid of that it would make you vote again for the party that:
* ignored warnings and failed to prevent 911,
* started a war based on lies,
* is now preparing to attack Iran,
*shredded our constitution,
* has initiated a police state where anyone can be arrested and imprisoned forever for no reason and with no right to an attorney,
* spies on its own citizens,
* engages in torture in violation of the Geneva Convention,
* did nothing to prevent the drowning of New Orleans
* shamefully abandoned the many people there who are still without homes,
* outed a CIA agent to the media(treason, according to our constitution),
*is riddled with hypocrites who preach family values but engage in illegal and even immoral actions like seducing young pages, hiring prostitutes, fathering out of wedlock children, and soliciting a male police officer in a public restroom?
* defies the law by refusing to answer subpoenas from Congress or turn over documents likely to prove incriminating (such as those 5,000 "missing" White House email records)

Remember, the President could not have accomplished these things without the full support of Congress, which until recently was controlled in both houses by Republicans. The Democratic Congress has tried (perhaps not hard enough) to change many of these things, but the President has stonewalled at every opportunity -- vetoing or refusing to sign bills passed by Democrats to stop the war, provide healthcare to children, and many other crucial things.

Bottom line: If you care about helping people in this country and restoring America as a force for good in this world, you should vote Democratic. I firmly believe this is the most important election in the history of our nation - and the dangers of voting for the party that brought us to this sorry state are far, far too high to risk.
