Meg Whitman thinks Californians are stupid - and don't get her game. Well, the response to her game-playing & posturing on politics is obvious. When Meggy says it's different when her Pete Wilson uses the term 'whore', the audience lets her know she's officially entered the stupidity zone.

A clip from the debate showcasing how there are two standards of behavior in this world. Meg Whitman's, and everyone elses. A lot of billionaires feel the same way. They try to buy people and tell them they should appreciate it. But California voters can't be purchased like her staff.

______

Don't you love hypocrisy?

1. feigning outrage one minute, then laughing off the term the next - that's our Meg!

her money is buying her some excellent acting coaches. At least 5 people in that room actually bought her performance -- 5 more than last time.

I can't think of the name, but boy, is she ever Meg Whitman material.

64. Just like Tom Brokaw, who tried to make a false equivalency
in the debate between the word "whore" and the word "ni**er"...except that he spoke the word "whore" while using the phrase "the N-word" instead of speaking the word "ni**er."

Which shows that in Tom Brokaw's mind, saying the n-word on TV is totally unacceptable, while saying "whore" on TV is OK. Ergo, calling a person a whore is not as bad as using the n word. Ergo, they aren't equivalent, at least to Brokaw.

10. That Union made a deal with the devil.
I remember another RepubliCON Politician who wrote a letter to a small union saying they would support the union's efforts for better working conditions. But he did not keep his word.

"PATCO was one of a small handful of unions that endorsed Reagan in his bid to defeat incumbent President Jimmy Carter in 1980. But just months after Reagan took office, PATCO members found that support meant nothing.

Faced with the longest working hours of any air traffic controllers in the world, PATCO members sought to relieve the stress of their jobs through changes in their union contract with the Federal Aviation Administration. Their main demands centered on safer working conditions, including a 32-hour workweek, updated computer equipment and retirement after 20 years of service.

When the Reagan administration balked at these demands, PATCO called a strike. Federal employees however, are forbidden by law to walk off their jobs. On the first day of the strike on Aug. 3, 1981, some 15,000 controllers went out, causing the cancellation of thousands of airline flights across the country. Two days later, Reagan fired the striking controllers."

And when it was forthcoming it really threw her off. The subsequent "outrage" really made her look bad, as did the refusal to apologize for HER staff's rude remark. The audience reaction only affirms how phony this person really is.

66. Of course, she doesn't want an apology.
It's a political issue. Anything to make her opponent look bad. I hope Brown wins although not with all that much enthusiasm, but the California campaign is boiling down to flooding the TV channels with attack ads without anybody saying anything. The Jerry Brown ad with Meg Whitman's "nose just growing and growing" is just as awful as her ads.

According to news reports, polls have her and Brown close, Boxer and Fiorina close, with both Republican ladies having enough cash to sponsor every other commercial shown between now and election day.

Don't believe for a moment that California's can't be suckers for a media-driven appeal. We here threw Grey Davis out as governor, believing that Ah-nold would come into Sacramento and be like an action movie hero, throwing politicians who dithered around making self-serving deals out the window, kicking ass on all the "girly men" who couldn't get a budget passed.

Jerry Brown is a fascinating character. I hope I live long enough to read a definitive biography of him; certainly one of the most varied lives of anyone in American political history. Will there be a second coming of "Governor Moonbeam"? Will it have positive results in the face of ongoing environmental, economic, and infrastructure problems? Stay tuned if you can suppress your gag response through the barrage of commercials that watching ANY TV between now and 11/2/10.

If I had to base my opinion solely on the impression that she gives off, she would be in big trouble.

On a semi-related note, he handled the Whore thing really well IMHO. She came across as somebody who was trying to make a bigger deal out of it than it probably deserved. It would have been funny to hear him go the other direction and just keep calling her a whore. I can picture him ending each point with "Why?....Because your a Whore!". I bet he could even get the audience to follow along if he did it enough. Oh well... I guess those bits will be saved for SNL.

like all in the MSM, he is confusing what voters think with what the press CHOOSES to chase down and force to fit into the narrative they want to advance, which is "dems are in deep trouble and the thugs are going to win by a landslide".

Anytime you spend all of your time closed up in an office building in DC and never venture outside the beltway--hell, venture anywhere west of the I-95 corridor, and you will see that the things that have got the press all a flutter does not fly. at. all.

The press whips up counterfeit stories and then wonders why their is such an enthusiasm gap--it's because our panties are not caught up in a bunch like theirs seem to be.

24. Right after Brown's apology, Whitman accuses him of defending his staff,
because she was programmed, pre-debate to say both 'your apology isn't good enough', and 'why won't you apologize instead of defending your staff?' ThomThom is right about the illegal recording issue, so Meg is saying that Brown's apology, for the illegal repug wiretapping of the Brown campaign, isn't good enough, then she immediately denies that he apologized.

Nobody can name a repug that represents either women's rights, or union rights. But everyone can name dozens of repugs that are campaigning against women and union rights. Put Brown in, keep Whitman out, then make Brown honor pensions through Federal Democratic action.

In the song "The Trial", the barrister/prosecutor and later the mother refer to "Good morning, Worm your honor." and "Worm, your honor, let me take him home." So, while it is true that the cartoon representation of the judge is in fact a male ass (complete with simulated tea-bagging movements - well, OK, not *really* tea-bagging per se...and defecations in the film), the creature is in fact referred to in the song as a worm.

Quod Erat Demonstrandum. :+ :toast:

27. This was my first lengthy
exposure to Meg. Watched the entire debate and came away with 3 things:

*I'm glad I never worked for her.

*Whomever on DU likened her to "Chucky" was right on the mark.

*Glad my family members have early voted for Jerry Brown.

thanks...

but we have Meg to thank for this gem - she certainly has mapped out that route extending from her foot to her mouth quite handily, as she has made that trip so many times now.

you took the initiative and started this thread, otherwise some of us might not know about it and for that contribution I believe you deserve thanks as well.

Peace to you,:hi:

45. I cannot abide women like Meg Whitman. Period.
But not because of her politics, though that is reason enough to dislike her.

I dislike that she perpetuates elitist hypocrasy and uses her gender over and over and over to beat a dead horse. Brown apologized. He should have. But that doesn't matter to her because she wants to play out the indignant female, and it was apparently beneath her to accept an apology because she wanted to berate a gender issue instead of actually debate substantive issues.

Her approach is offensive to a lot of intelligent women everywhere.

49. The coverage of this is weirding me out
I'm listening to Thom Hartmann on Progressive 1060, and they just ran an in-between news clip that did the exact same thing MSNBC has been doing today - cutting the audio off literally seconds before she exposes herself and gets the audience on her ass.

What the hell, man?

53. She probably has Karl Rove whispering in her ear
"Hey Meg, ALL states have voters like they do in South Carolina and Mississippi--you can say anything and we'll make it true."

I think old Meg fell for it, and was totally taken aback when the audience didn't behave like nodding sheep when she opened her mouth.

This morning a conservative family member I think had Fox News on and they were showing this video but I didn't hear any crowd laughter when Meg said "That's a completely different thing".

Is there any way to check this?

58. you can guess that Fox would probably do that

Meg had to repeat herself because of the crowd response, so if you can see what FoxNews showed, see if they cut it out between her repeating herself - it would probably be hard to cover that up unless they were purposely commenting over that part and dropped the audio to pretend it was necessary for the commentator to make a point.

FoxNews has no boundaries when altering news stories:

74. the MSNBC news clip on chn 60 framed Brown badly,
not showing the full video where he responds to this incident thoroughly and respectfully.

On MSNBC TV (Channel 60: Andrea Mitchell's news channel... Greenspan's wife...) they framed this as a weakness of character on his part that he did not apologize, but if they rolled tape you would see that he did. These are lies by omission. Please note who dunnit. Don't let these people report anymore. This is an ethics issue for sure.

Make it one.

We need some ethics, logic, and passion back in our investigative reporting to start provoking critical thoughts.

This article establishes that for me. I can't thank you enough for modeling what it looks like and I hope I can help make more of an impact so we can get out of the hands of criminals and get our bank balances back.

IMNSHO: Meg is NOT RIGHT for CA. Neither was SCHWARZENEGGER>>> Look at the results of his reign.

Whatever, we have to learn to work with what we got so that our moves are authentic. That is high integrity and very powerful impact. I wish I had more power. I just cannot influence anyone... well, a few who support me, but they would prefer I be sweet, if they could add anything. I told them it I was raised with four assertive brothers. Anyway, my husband just told me to say "and my husband thinks I am plenty sweet already."

I SAY: Be OK.

"I'm Okay, You're Okay" was a useful book that worked for people thirty, forty years ago when people were in repair. We had more critical thinking happening in our inflows and outflows that sparked our economy.

Also "Games People Play" helps immensely if you prefer to opt out of the games within the rules of the games people don't even know they are playing.

You can learn how to start a business in simple terms at Noodle Brain Productions. I recommend it. I am just now reviewing an online financial service company here in San Francisco known as Pacific Crest. They seem to have a nice thing happening online.

At Nicholson Business Services, I am still old school. I like raw data, so I show up at your place, or have it delivered by Fedex so its private: Bank statements with front and back copies of checks and copies of checks/items in deposits, etc... And credit card statements. And any cash receipts. Cash basis, tax basis accounting. Nothing else goes in except by journal entry and those are documented as well.

The big deal about having accounting services, no matter who you use, is that you get a Balance Sheet that tells you what you own, what you owe, and your net worth, as well as a Profit and Loss Statement that gives you breakdowns on types of revenue, direct cost/inventory, and overhead in great detail. And if you build an accrual system, you get to know where you are while in transit, when everything is flowing, at a specific point in time. Useful data.

Wow.. no monkeys on your back for a change. Compliance has occurred and it turns out to be a strengthening element in your ability to trust the general make-up of the civilization in which you are exchanging goods and services. It is important to make your data accurate so that your numbers can be predictable, and you can make decisions based on valid data. GAAP compliant. Auditable.

Get good people to manage your staff and make that happen with controls in place for operations. They just have to follow instructions to the T, and deliver the results. And then you are free... at least when it comes to your time and money, and that is big. Start a business. Look at the page here

http://www.noodlebrain.com/nbpams.swf

It is really simple easy reading. Let me know if you have any problems in getting these simple instructions.

Anyway, Brown would help us get set up for small businesses, I am sure. Build it and they will come!

That "Ohhh oooohhhh" bullshit, and really expected it to turn around and hurt Brown. Classic deflection.

Then she got clowned by Brown. Then she got laughed at. Then she got booed.

I bet she really imagined this bit going differently in her head.
