1. Cops did not like being called pigs back in the day...
But that is an apt description. Fuck the pigs and their abuse of authority. I think there are far too many cops and they are scraping the bottom of the barrel to get assholes to fill these positions. Fuck the police, fuck the war on civil liberties (AKA the war on drugs,) fuck the prison industrial complex, and fuck all authoritarians. And if you feel offended by that well - - -

19. no offense here.
They need to take those f#*king tasers away. They use them as a first resort so as not to be inconvenienced or doing their job humanly.

Law "Enforcement" is s**t. They do not give a damn about constitutional protections (especially the fourth amendment).

3. When the rogue cops busted in my home at midnite, I talked loud
so that they wouldnt feel empowered to shoot and taunt me. They did taunt with right wing shit, but kept telling me to talk quietly, so as not to wake the neighbors. I have heart failure, and just the smashing on the door, and ringing the bell till it blewup could have done me in. Retaliation for taking a crooked cop and judge out. Substation down the street.

10. We need new guidlines for Taser usage.
I'm starting to think we need some new guidelines for Taser usage. It seems like every other instance of police brutality in the last few years has involved a cop Tasing the crap out of someone for a minor offense (like getting out of a car too slowly). Just because it is allegedly nonlethal, doesn't mean you can Tase grandma because the weeds in her front lawn are too tall. Remember Marvin Booker in Denver? Before they sat on his chest and left him facedown on the floor of his cell, they Tased him. The police seem to be adopting a "Tase now, ask questions later" approach to interacting with people, and it's not a good thing.

11. To me, on these types of incidents, most here miss the most important aspect of them....
next to the person passing away, regardless of the tool used, the person accused of committing these practices would have most likely used ANY sort of tool and not just the Taser. A tool or instrument is only as good as the hands it is used in.

People here get fixated on the Taser. To me, that is the side issue - would it be any different if the item used had been a sap? a pair of fists? a nightstick? a canister of pepper spray?

Someone suggested a policy change on Taser use. Well, there are all ready plenty of requirements on Taser usage. The problem is that people don't follow these guidelines, abuses them or just doesn't care.

The issue is that there are people out there that will abuse their positions regardless of what is accessible. To me, THAT is the problem and not a tool.

Edited on Sun Oct-17-10 04:23 PM by DeSwiss
...isn't as dramatic nor as difficult to explain away as the bruises from being beaten to death.

- And then there's the fact that many of the people being hired as police in this country and who are walking around with all these lethal weapons -- are absolute FUCKING IDIOTS...........

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-taser_witt-web-jul19,0,2201847.story

That coroner has been shot at numerous times and his garage put afire. He wears a gun now even at his desk. The man tazered is a cousin to one of the men charged in Jenna LA. Nugent has the record for using the tazer more than any other officer in Winnfield. Read more about the corruption there and in Louisiana:

I'd rather be tased than sprayed in the face with pepper spray, hit in the noggin with a night stick or hit on the hand with a sap or punched in the face.

being tased once is like getting kicked in the groin.....once it has happened not only do you know what it feels like, but you also realize you don't need to feel it again to know what it feels like.

torture is unacceptable whether you are Condi Rice or a small time dumbshit cop. You send the wrong message when you negotiate with torturers and grant them blanket immunity from justice.

34. Not only is it real, it's not all that uncommon.
Once you know it's there, it's not hard to see it in a lot of places, and see it building and growing in a lot of other places. :(

Here in NYC, whenever the UN is in session, cops are out in force closing off streets for the convenience of the honchos. You get rudeness and threats from some of them just because they are cops and they can get away with it. You see how much they enjoy being mean to some people, and how little regard they have for rights.

You see the clear difference too, in how they treat people who are clearly rich versus people who are clearly poor or clearly poor and minority. The prejudice comes right out into the open.
