2. another thug cop...
At some point, we need to take power away from law enforcement, because they obviously cannot handle it.

3. A woman's face doesn't end up looking like that from falling down.
Her face IS evidence that the cop beat her up.
There should be charges filed against the cop and his ass should be in jail.

5. Charges should be filed.

He turned off the camera, that shows intent to do something wrong.

The camera was there for the protection from what happened to her in cases where people appointed by society has the ability to confine people against their will. Because some people in society have the ability to confine people, they have to be watched also.

Who watches the watchers. That is the concept of democracy, and civilian oversight also.

There is a structure, a hierarchical structure, but that leads to despotism, so while the top can enforce some things on people below them, the bottom has to be given power to enforce on the top also.

8. A new standard for crime, "since no one knows what happened, no crime was committed."
Police are held to different standards than mere mortals.

9. The officer was fired, reinstated and then resigned

No charges were filed. I imagine a civil suit is pending in the courts somewhere.

10. This happened three years ago.
The officer (Wylie Willis) was fired but was later reinstated by the Fire and Police Civil Service Board after it ruled that he was discharged without a proper investigation and that he did not violate any departmental procedure in turning off the camera. Willis resigned a month after being reinstated. The city dropped all charges against Garbarino (the victim) and they reached an out-of-court settlement agreeing to pay her $400,000.

The FBI and DOJ, at the time, participated in some kind of investigation into civil rights violations related to the incident, but I don't think anything ever came of it. I also don't know if the policy allowing officers to turn off the camera after an interrogation has been "concluded" is still in place.

13. Totally not right. The police have no accountabilty. This
video should be shown nationwide. No one came to her help? The video turned off several times? Wow! And he gets off easy with a firing? That sucks!
