I know this is not DU's typical cup of tea, but he exposes a lot of the corporate schemes in the music industry...specifically Hip-Hop. This guy was Jay-Z's top producer and also produced for Kanye West. He's a big figure in the industry and basically calls the corporate music industry's control of the airwaves and artists akin to a slave contract. America's corporate problem is not just political, it's very much in the music industry as well (and likely not just Rap either).

1. It has been that way for a long time.

In the 30s and 40s it was like that in the movie industry. Some of the most glamorous "stars" of all time were slaves to the studios in the sense that he talks of "slavery." They were employees with nothing if they did not obey the studios.
