He caved in on the Bush tax cuts; He's considering slashing Social Security and Medicare; The question now is whether or not he will stand and fight the Republicans who are trying to dismantle his greatest legislative accomplishment - Healthcare reform. Mike Papantonio talks with Ed Schultz about Obama's seemingly missing backbone, and what we can do to once again get him fighting.

1. Wouldn't it be great to see Papantonio on MSNBC regularly...?
Only President Obama can prove this wrong, by his actions in the next two years...and particularly during this lame-duck session...

2. Rings true
Let the revolt of the Many begin, and let the Centrists who collaborated with the Few watch their influence dwindle. We'll have to go through a little period where things will get worse for the Many, which will make them all the more militant and all the more willing to bring down the Few.

Maybe working Democrats and Republicans, kissing the asses of the Few in hopes of getting a few scraps of the American Dream, are waking up. Probably not; there's still ESPN to entertain and affordable microbrews to lend an illusion of affluence; but maybe.

6. Pap's jumped the gun on a whole shitload of stuff. First, Obama has said again that he opposes
Edited on Fri Nov-12-10 06:27 PM by RBInMaine
the tax cuts for the rich and we need to see how this plays out. There are a number of directions it could take. Second, the fate of Obama and Dems is partially on how they message and lead (and that they must do), but also very much on what happens in the economy over the next two years and how the teabagger pubs behave. Already we are seeing signs of continued economic improvement, and pubs are having their own internal issues. Next, many on the left are over-reacting to the debt commission report at this very early and preliminary stage. That is in its infancy, there is a long, long way to go, NOTHING has been debated, voted on, etc. etc. etc. And in the end, this will be just a non-binding commission report. It doesn't mean any of it will be enacted. There are also proposals to shrink military spending, there are positive comments about the idea of a public option, etc. If he thinks Hillary would run against Obama, he's entirely nuts. Pap is over-reacting. He actually compared Obama to Bush. That can not be done given the mountain of positive legislation that Obama has signed and which Bush NEVER would have. I often like what he has to say, but he's being hyperbolic with all this. Just chill people. There is a lot of speculation here. We need to see how this all plays out. He and many others are jumping the gun BIGTIME.

7. When Obama refused to even investigate
the war crimes of the Bush administration I knew he was a creature of the financial status quo. Nothing has happened to alter that observation and if the past two years is prologue, nothing likely will . There is no more time to see how this plays out. We've already seen the same sell out repeatedly. No more patience. No more apologizes for Obama. No more bullshit.

9. Indeed, that is why all those voters came out in droves to "celebrate" all that legislation...
... oh, wait.

12. Mpuntains of legislation my ass.
Nothing has gone through Congress in four years that has not furthered the agenda of the Republican Party.

14. Exactly...you can't claim liberals are over-reacting in the criticisms of Obama
Then turn around and overreact on his accomplishments. What we got was the bare minimum, table crumbs painted as historic legislation when it really isn't. I agree though that Hillary wouldn't run against Obama, and I hope she doesn't. If someone runs against Obama it should be a REAL Progressive. I'm done voting for these corporatist Dems and the Clinton's are part of that group.

11. If he has really done all this I will vote against him in 2012.
And I would consider him a traitor.

I hope he's smarter than that.

13. Grayson for 2012
Obama has been the biggest let down there is. If he hadn't
campaigned on change and hope to "save" us from the
evil Republicans, I wouldn't be so let down.

One issue after another, Obama has turned his back on his
base. I thought we were all on the same page.
Prosecuting Bush/Cheney and the others in the administration
who were war criminals. Prosecuting Karl Rove for outing a CIA
undercover agent Valerie Plame, for getting ex Governor Don
Segielman arrested and imprisoned for political reasons, for
the firing of nine attorney generals, for stealing elections
in Ohio, the list goes on.

Alas, nothing came out of Eric Holder's Justice Department,
which told me Obama didn't want anyone prosecuted. Here we
have a CONSTITUTIONAL LAWYER(from the UNIVERSITY OF
CHICAGO)and he just turns a blind eye to crimes, that have
been committed against the Constitution and this country. Talk
about a lapse of ethics.

This guy is no fighter and the job requirement calls for
someone who can fight and stand up to the bullies on the
right. He never should have run, knowing that he doesn't have
it in him to FIGHT.

Sixty minutes interviewed him during his campaign and they
asked him, who wins when he and Michelle have a disagreement.
Michelle piped up with"I ALWAYS WIN", and Obama
said, "I usually GIVE IN to her".

That should have been a red flag, that this guy is no fighter,
but an appeaser!

Appeasers don't belong in the OVAL OFFICE, not with the crowd
on the opposite side of the aisle these days.

So now he plans to give the rich their tax breaks, plus do
whatever else the Republicans want him to do.
These bullies seem to run the show, whether they're in or out
of power. They know that Obama is a wimp and hasn't got what
it takes for a show down. Can you imagine LBJ
(President Lyndon B.Johnson)allowing anyone to push him
around? If anyone did the pushing, it was him.

The only way Obama will change course, is if we the people
start protesting and DEMANDING the change he's been too afraid
to do.

Rep.Alan Grayson(from Florida, who was voted out of office)
is a fighter and not afraid to open his mouth and tell the
Republicans to shove it.
You fight fire with fire, you give back what was dished out
and better, bullies and liars have to be put in their place or
they run the show.

Obama is TOO nice to be the President of the U.S. and
unfortunately, will be a one term president, unless he can get
some COURAGE and soon.

Until then, it's GRAYSON FOR PRESIDENT 2012!
