Matt Taibbi: "Why Isn’t Wall Street in Jail?" (Complete Interview)

Nobody goes to jail,” "writes Matt Taibbi in his the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine. “This is the mantra of the financial-crisis era, one that saw virtually every major bank and financial company on Wall Street embroiled in obscene criminal scandals that impoverished millions and collectively destroyed hundreds of billions, in fact, trillions of dollars of the world’s wealth." Here is the complete interview from which we played an excerpt on our Feb. 22 show. Taibbi explains how the American people have been defrauded by Wall Street investors and how the financial crisis is connected to the situations in states such as Wisconsin and Ohio.

1. I know how they feel: I totally lost any appetite to reelect Obama
Over shit just like, but hardly limited, to this issue.

2. I know what you mean. I pretty much lost respect for Obama permanently
after I found out Goldman Sachs was his biggest campaign contributor...as it will no doubt be next time too.

7. Shit like this is reason enough.
The propagandists still pedal the old, "Oh, it was the government FORCING the banks to make loans to irresponsible lazy minorities that had no intention of paying off their mortgages."

A huge segment of the American people are deeply puzzled by the true nature and cause of the economic meltdown. There has been a concerted effort to aid in this confusion.

3. They're too busy prosecuting and threatening sick people on medical marijuana
Edited on Fri Apr-15-11 01:14 AM by farmboxer
those who are dying, very sick can have some peace with medical marijuana, but no, they want them to suffer, the more the better to them! While Wall Street criminals have stolen the entire country, robbed almost everyone!

on the S&L crisis. First they were deregulated in the 80's under Ronnie. Then comes a real estate boom and high interest rates along with CD rates. These people never regulate themselves and our government always bails them out and off the hook.

5. Criminal Banksters
O never met a criminal bankster that he didn't want to throw our tax payer money at, so he can get chump change for his re-election.

I went to see John Larson, who I consider to be a good guy (former school teacher, NOT A LAWYER!) and he told me we now have TWO AMERICAS. I took that to mean; One for all of us peons and another for the elites.

I would love to see Lloyd Blankfein do some of God's Work UP THE RIVER AT STATESVILLE PRISON* FOR A FEW DECADES!

-90% Jimmy

*thanks to Keith Olbermann and the long canceled tv show "Police Squad"

PS - I recall Jesse Ventura mentioned recently on one of his TV appearances that for the last 50 years, through both Democratic and Republican Administrations, the Secretary of the Treasury has always come from Goldman Sachs?
