Protesters in Peshawar, in northwestern Pakistan, demonstrated on Saturday against U.S. drone attacks on their country. Former cricketer Imran Khan, head of a political party known as Pakistan Movement for Justice, led the protest. (April 23)

1. Rec'd but just brought it to zero.
So many Pakistani women and children have been murdered by US drones. It's hard to understand why anyone on a democratic board would object to those people protesting such horror on their own soil.

Drones should be banned completely. They are killing civilians at a rate of 10 innocent people to, maybe, 1 'terrorist'.

I hope the Pakistani government listens to its citizens and forbids the US from attacking innocent people with those cowardly weapons.

4. nothing new
I am continuously aghast as to what people will "unrec" here at Democratic Underground.

The only motivation I am able to discern is some sort of personal agenda. If a thread contains an inconvenient truth to the narrative that one is trying to promote then it will surely receive an unrec, truth and facts be dammed.

5. I suppose that's true, but what kind of agenda
would make the slaughter of innocents something to be ignored?

I suppose I should get used to it. At least I know it's a minority on our side.

I remember reading an article by Robert Fisk I believe, several years ago. He was in Afghanistan when there was a drone attack on a village he had been visiting. His description of the aftermath, the devastation, the grief, the sheer horror of it all, left a lasting impression, at least on me. Not that his report was necessary, but it graphically described the horror of what these weapons do and how many innocent lives they take.

I give the Pakistani people credit for being as reasonable as they are while demanding that the killing of their civilians stop.

And now this President has authorized their use in Libya! So it is guaranteed there will be more horrific results. And then we ask 'why do they hate us'. My question at this point is, 'why don't they hate us more'?

6. my guess
Obviously someone who supports the imperial adventurism in Libya interpreted this post as some sort of slanted attack towards their neo-conservative, media porn, blood fantasy.

I see that I don't need to show you this.

7. Yes, I saw that. Kudos to that soldier who was there that day
for speaking out and telling the truth. But sadly it looks like he's being ignored.

As for your other theory, I suppose for some party loyalty over principles makes some kind of sense, but I always said when I was fighting with rightwingers during Bush's reign of terror that if a Democrat ever did what Bush was doing, I could not possibly support it. At the time, I guess I was pretty naive, I didn't think I'd ever have to prove it. Now I know better but I also know for sure, it doesn't matter which party is responsible, if they are doing wrong, only unprincipled people will continue to support them.
