Chief of Staff for Republican U.S. Rep Allen West (FL-22) gets caught lying. After facing tough Town Hall questioning from constituents during first months in office, handlers for the controversial Tea Party favorite decided on a "fresh approach" for Question & Answer format. But as shown in this video from the April 27th, 2011 Town Hall in Boca Raton, FL, that "fresh approach" raises lots more questions than it answers...

4. It's the Republican way.....
Eliminate what the REAL people want to hear.
Cowards like the religious right dictate the message
and only hear what they want you to hear.

5. West should be in jail
not in Congress.

Signed: A retired U.S. Army officer that still upholds U.S. Army values.

Unlike that scum Alan West.

8. "Read what you're given"
What is wrong with Jack? Why would he accept that? Why screen at all? Take the damn box to the front..Congressman West pull out a card and read it. Oh right..that would be the democratic way wouldn't it. This is how sheeple get fleeced. Guess he's scared of actual real time dialogue after seening others get hammered. Coward

10. My Democratic Congressman uses this same system.
I got to ask a question last time. I knew when I wrote it on the paper that my Congressman would want to answer it and would answer it well.

But, in addition to asking questions during the meeting, my Congressman patiently talks to each constituent who gets in line and waits to talk after the meeting.

This system works if the Congressman is genuinely interested in talking to each constituent. It doesn't work if the Congressman is unwilling to do that.

16. It doesn't sound like the same system to me. West doesn't read
questions he doesn't like. His staff picks the questions that will serve his agenda, not the people he is elected to serve.

12. I'd say that this is "Incredible"
but it's not, really. This is just de rigueur for the GOP. It's actually "credible" because it's just the way they work. Didn't used to be, but this is what they've winnowed down to in this day and age - a POOR and perforated facade of democracy.

13. So Republican. Superintendent of a school, enjoying union benefits and a government job
and then, when retired with a fat pension, turns and tries to destroy that institution he lived off so well, by bleeding it to death via Republican policies.

Republicans make me sick. :puke:

15. Allen West
Like all of his kind can't stand the truth. If conservative ever told the truth about there ideas they would get run out of town on a rail. The Ryan plan is just a very small glimpse of what they really stand for!

based only on greed and selfishness....lying is easy for the never ending slimy republicans pigs, republicans are despicable creatures who lie, blame others, never accept nor admit to their true intentions, their sick psychopathic motives. - Republicans are extremely hateful & incredibly intolerant of others, though in a heartbeat they will in fact use any disgusting wretched tactic including sabotage, defamation, smears, distortions, any attack they can get away with while using lies, hate & fear to attain more & more & more.....such sick insatiable greedy excuse for a being are REPUBLICANS as is their ideology and agenda as well!!

20. Actually, this is rather typical of all town hall meetings..
Especially community meetings, advisory committee meetings, various public board meetings, structured organizational meeting that are open to the public. I can't count how many times I've had prepared and poignant questions be slipped on the bottom of the stack after read by the "moderator". Only to have "timed out" before getting through the stack.

really, nothing unusual here.. It always amazes me when it happens, but I've concluded over the years that most people really are not interested in genuine democractic processess, like having all voices heard on critical issues that impacts people at large.
