Those kids don't look too traumatized. Every time she describes his words and actions they're smiling and holding back giggles.
It's not cool to make homophobic remarks, etc. But honestly... kids are not as shocked by these things as their parents so desperately want to believe that they are.
Do people forget what it was like to be a kid the second they pop out some of their own? I probably said worse things on a daily basis in second grade.

From what I read, rather than being insulted, he actions were far more likely to have been a turn on. It sounded like sexual horseplay in the wrong setting, where the family was present. Perhaps he was oblivious and thought they were not being observed and tried to come on to them.

I'm gay, and I know had he done that in front of me, I'd assume he was interested in getting together.

Merely using the word "homo" is not an insult if it's another gay guy saying it.

In our school district, there's some poor bastard dressed in a bear costume and called Happy Bear.
