PoliticusUsa:

"...Since Mitt Romney is in Michigan campaigning I thought we ought to take a look back at his “Let Detroit Die” stance in 2009. The former governor of Massachusetts attended two private fundraising events as well as two public outings in Livonia and Detroit. He better hope no one in the Motor City recognizes him....

3. If he became president, he could make it come true, then say, "See? I told you so."
Not a very sophisticated plan, yet way beyond the planning abilities of Sarah Palin.

5. If Dems saturated the Detroit highway billboards with this New York
Times cover, Mitt would instantly become public enemy # 1 in motor city. Dems have a hard time understanding offensive counter-punching or how to land the golden knockout punch on their opponents when they have them dazed on the ropes. Such opportunities should never be squandered.

9. Why would Romney care about Detroit?
If they went bankrupt, it wouldn't have mattered to him, as it would not have affected him personally or financially, and it may have even benefited him politically, if he could spin Detroit's collapse as President Obama's fault.

12. I live in Detroit
If the GM and Chrysler bail-out had not happened, my plan (seriously) was to board up the house, drop the keys off at the bank and head out of town. I knew where I was going to buy the plywood.

15. Romney has same academic training as George W
I am pretty sure, both Mitt Romney and George W have an MBA from Harvard. So, I guess Romney is just a pretty version of George W. I expect similar economic policies and results.

17. Believe it or not
A lot of people in the metro Detroit area feel the same way about Detroit. If he would've said "Let Michigan die" i think it would have been more damaging. But this is a very segregated area and when you say Detroit people in Metro Detroit think city full of black criminals and corrupt politicians. Make the focus him wanting the auto industry die, not the city of Detroit.
