The Oversight Committee holds a hearing on Blackwater. The hearing examines the mission and performance of private military contractor Blackwater USA in Iraq and Afghanistan. Erik Prince, the owner of Blackwater, will testify as well as three State Department officials. The hearing specifically addresses three key questions: (1) Is Blackwater's presence advancing or undermining U.S. efforts? (2) Has State Department responded appropriately to the shooting incidents involving Blackwater forces? (3) What are the costs to U.S. taxpayers for the reliance on Blackwater and other private military contractors? Rep. Carolyn Maloney questions Prince.

1. Good Lord
Get drunk, shoot the Vice President's guard, get flown out of the
country, and just have a thousand dollars taken out of your pay.

6. I think he did miss out on receiving a holiday paycheck too.
But maybe what I heard today is true.
The word 'contractor' is usually associated with someone who builds something.
Like hiring contractors to make an addition on a house.
These guys do NOT build anything.
In fact what makes them unlike MERCENARIES?

3. No, this is a Blackwater stereotype.
The best man they could find for the job. A psychotic killer. "Fired" is such a loaded term, let's call his status what it is, "benched". When the heat dies down, he will be back.

If Blackwater is contracted for work in the US, he's on the short list since he has no criminal record here.

And, guess what ... he's home with us now! Still able to possess any lethal weapon he cares to purchase.

4. More garbage
Another walking piece of garbage is that apologist for the war profiteers Rep. Lynn A Westmoreland from the 3rd district of georgia. He went on his rant about the dems and socialized medicine so I decided to give his washington office a call. I asked if he supported socialized medicine and his staffer said that of course not. My reply was "well then will he not be using his socialized medicine provided to him by the government"? His staffer argued that socialized medicine would put our country into a deficit. I told her that the Iraq war has already done that. She said that employers could provide better healthcare than the government. My reply was "what's wrong with the healthcare provided to Westmoreland" and she said "nothing". Well I then told her that that is the healthcare that I want. If it is good enough for him then it is good enough for me!!!
Give his office a call and tell them that you want the same government provided healthcare that rep westmoreland recieves!!!

5. I think the face of the black woman behind...
...the congresswoman says it all.

Her look of concern, disbelief, and disgust is the same look I have on my face right now.

7. I seem to remember that this guy Prince is an evangelical Christian-
am I right? I just wonder if Jesus would be the CEO of a mercenary WAR corporation.

Granted, this is from Wikipedia, but it sheds some light:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erik_Prince

Michigan Republicans, military service, wealth, Amway, and these chestnuts:

"...also serves as a board member of Christian Freedom International, a nonprofit group with a mission of helping "Christians who are persecuted for their faith in Jesus Christ".

Prince is noted for disliking having his photo taken and distributed; he often uses his hands to shield himself from photographers. While attending a technology conference in North Carolina, he was visibly uncomfortable when photographed on stage and officials asked that the images not be published.<2> Some have claimed that this is due to fear of terrorist reprisals for his role in creating Blackwater USA.<2>"

Too phucking bad, Prince:

8. Also, I have been watching these hearings and, while Blackwater
pisses me off, I think that this outrage by Democratic and Republican representatives seems a little precious and after the fact. Rep. Maloney asked Prince about Blackwater's accountability, but my question is how did Blackwater land right in the middle of this war in the first place? I think the accountability lies in the Bush administration and our Congress!
