who specialize in murder and armed robbery. And anyone who thinks this cretin, scum is loyal to the US is deluded to the point of institutionalization. These are murderers who hire out to the highest bidder - right now that's Dick and the Furhrer...

Addition to spouting off over and over at the hearing, he was a quest on Wash Journal this am---One thing he said was that ….the hearing was a Witchhunt and "grandstanding by Waxman on the behalf of Pelosi"!!!

Issa was probably the worse, but other Repugs were not far behind. Shays spent his time giving Blackwater free ads---constantly praising their record---repeatedly saying NOT one person BW was protecting has been hurt or died. I did not hear him mention the Iraqi civilians who were killed, which was what the hearing was about!

http://thelede.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/10/02/watching-the-blackwater-hearing /

10:52 a.m. Representative Mica, a Republican, just pulled a fast one by calling for the committee to adjourn because it is premature and meddling in the ongoing investigations. A vote was taken. On television, it sounded close, demonstrating how much the Republicans didn’t want this hearing to happen. But the Democrats had the edge. We’ll be here for a while.

10:40 a.m. Blackwater is clearly a partisan issue, a Republican made clear by attacking the Democrats that spoke so far. “This is not about Blackwater,” Representative Issa said. “What we are hearing today is in fact a repeat of the Moveon.org attack on General Petraeus’s patriotism.”

10:44 a.m. “This is about accountability,” said Representative Cummings, a Democrat. This will be a frequent refrain today.
………….
11:23 a.m. Representative Issa reclaims the microphone on a mission to uncover hypocrisy. He ask whether the committee had investigated the crash of Commerce Secretary Brown’s plane during the Clinton administration. Chairman Waxman promises to send him the report………

……..1:41 p.m. Representative Issa is back to poke a hole in the report put out on Monday by the House Oversight Committee staff, which is led by Chairman Waxman. He has a problem with the short bio provided on page 5. It unfairly paints Mr. Prince as a political operative , Mr. Issa contends, by committing two of six sentences to describe the political activities of his sister and her husband.
He’s on a roll — and ready to dispense a question soaked in sarcasm. “I heard rumors that someone in your company had given to the Green Party,” he said……..

3. "We're not investigators"
"We're supposed to allow the administration to do its investigation, then we do oversight. We don't-- We're not investigators."

From Random House Webster's unabridged dictionary.
o·ver·sight n.
1. an omission or error due to carelessness: My bank statement is full of oversights.
2. unintentional failure to notice or consider; lack of proper attention: Owing to my oversight, the letter was sent unsigned.
3. supervision; watchful care: a person responsible for the oversight of the organization.
<1300–50; ME; see OVER-, SIGHT>
—Syn. 1, 2. mistake, blunder, slip. 2. lapse, neglect, inattention. 3. management, direction, control; surveillance.

He's my representative. :(

What a superficial understanding of the balance of powers. Sure, let the Executive Department investigate itself. Even better, let Blackwater investigate itself!

9. My guess is singular, "is",
even though it is composed of 100 senators. There is only one senate for the United States.

Besides the implied threat, which I feel is implied as directed toward any investigator, not just the explicitly mentioned Waxman, Issa doesn't understand the meaning of "oversight". Perhaps he believes it means "above sight," or perhaps understands it in a passive sense, "above it all," as in collect your paycheck and shut the f*** up.

Hammer them with oversight seems appropriate to me.

10. Huh?
The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) is known as "the investigative arm of Congress" and "the congressional watchdog." GAO supports the Congress in meeting its constitutional responsibilities and helps improve the performance and ensure the accountability of the federal government for the benefit of the American people. GAO's work includes oversight of federal programs; insight into ways to make government more efficient, effective, ethical and equitable; and foresight of long-term trends and challenges. GAO's reports, testimonies, legal decisions and opinions make a difference for Congress and the Nation.

http://www.gao.gov/

WTF does he think GAO does and who in the executive branch does he think is "investigating" anything this executive branch does? Does he think he can find coyote to investigate the fox that is guarding the henhouse?

What a weasel.

13. Darrel Issa is an Idiot
Edited on Tue Oct-02-07 05:50 PM by erpowers
Issa is the stupidest person in the House of Represenative. The people in his district should kick him out of office. Issa actually tried to link the investigation into Blackwater to the Moveon.org ad about General Petreaus. He actually said that the investigation into Blackwater was the same as the Moveon.org ad against General Petreaus. Later he went on to claim that the investigation against Blackwater was an attempt to make a non partisan company seem to be a partisan company. The only problem with that was the fact that Issa was the only person who brought up the fact that the leader of Blackwater was a Republican and most of his family were Republicans. The people in Issa's district who voted for him should be ashamed of themselves.

in the U.S. ought to be ashamed of themselves for that matter. But even among slime, Issa still manages to stand out.

16. End Justifies the Means
Not one person has died. Probably the result of the 1% rule. If there is just 1% chance that a person/vehicle may have a hostile intent then blaze away at them/it with all the firepower at their disposal.

Maybe saved a life or two that they were protecting. At what cost of how many innocent dead?

Losing a protected life would be bad for business. Applying the 1% rule has (had?) no downside.

Blackwater policy is an obvious 1% rule. If not 1% then what is their threshold of risk? Certainly not to wait until fired upon and identify who fired before returning fire.

1% premptive ROE.

If there is only 1% chance that Iraq has WMD.................
