TNGA Rep. Jon Lundberg voicing his opposition during April 7, 2011 Tennessee General Assembly House HB0761 vote that would require insurance carriers (at a cost of about two cents per business health insurance policy) to provide health insurance coverage for families purchasing hear aides for deaf children.

3. Yea right
1 c here, 2 c there and before you know it, they are charging you $1000 a month for a health insurance for a family. I am sorry but all those extra coverage hurt the people who cannot buy insurance through their work place.

An while you are at it, better start pushing for dental coverage because bad dental care can lead to even more devastating health consequences than a bad hearing. In the mean time, the little kid can keep using his old hearing aids until his parents can afford new ones.

4. Yea right: you are wrong about health insurnace coverage for hearing aids.
You are making the faulty assumption that all the families of deaf children can afford to shell out about $2,000 to $3,000 every two to three years to be refitted for hearing aids...children with hearing impairments that can be helped with hearing aids will not end up being placed in special education classes.

The full-length TNGA House video featured statements from legislators citing health insurance industry representatives who were behind this measure and stating that the additional cost --- two cents per health insurance business policy --- could be readily absorbed by the health insurance industry operating in Tennessee without raising premiums/rates.

Place a tax on sugary beverages like soft drinks to provide some funding to pay for dental care.
