Indeed. How do we know we "don't torture" if no one knows what the definition of torture is? You have to almost feel sorry for Perino, who certainly must have thought that selling her soul wouldn't be this difficult.

4. that is pathetic . . . I wish the people around the world could see this and
see how this administration is so afraid of citizens becoming more aware of their bizarre, unethical, immoral, and probably illegal tactics

9. I hear you. But . . . I would sure like the rest of the world to know
that Americans, in general, are being kept from this information. That the vast majority do not support it. Do not group the majority of us with these cretins. They hate America because of these actions - that does not mean they have to hate Americans.

16. Between the ignorance, the hubris, the arrogance and the corruption
of America we do recognize that most Americans are not evil or indecent. I maintain that there has to be something approaching a majority of American voters too spoiled, too arrogant and too greedy to vote in their own long term selfinterest. Perhaps that is true of quite a few countries but it gets very ugly when its a very powerful country.

17. I agree - our advantage in terms of relative worth has made
truly arrogant international travelers. I have heard on more than one occassion where an American would nearly demand someone in another country speak English - a shop owner, a hotel employee or the like. Then walk away shaking their head not believing the ignorance of that person not being able to speak English. Truly disgusting.

Or food - not enjoying the food of another country. Or worse, looking "down" at the restaurant selections as if they were beneath them. It is not exactly like our chili-dogs, twinkies, fried twinkies, and the like is haute cuisine.

The worst part is that it always needs to be done so loudly. Ever hear a soft-spoken Texas traveler? I know - that is a horrible generalization - but you get the point.

My wife and I refuse to group-travel or even travel where Americans are likely to group. It is just too embarrasssing to be seen as a part of our own.

5. Why the hell won't those reporters just ask "What was Abu Ghraib? Was that
torture or degrading treatment?" Bush**Co called it a "college prank" when it was discovered. Now they say they don't torture.

7. Right in this moment I am watching a documentary on
French/German TV station about US torture, it's 2 hours long and covers a lot about it, even torturing on "24" and the "guy with ticking timebomb in custody" bullshit.

Believe me, the world probably knows more about what's going on than US citizens...

PS : The documentary is called "taxi to the dark side" by Alex Gibney, you can google it, trailer on youtube

8. "I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so...
... because, um, some people out there in our nation don't have legal definitions of torture and, uh, I believe that our, uh, education like such as, uh, South Africa and, uh, the Iraq and everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, uh, our torture policy over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, should help South Africa and should help Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future."

13. It is really, really, really important that we keep this stuff secret...
because if you all knew what we are doing, you'd say it was torture and we'd be in jail.

On a side.. I have now run into people who believe torture is ok... Somehow people have been able to twist the lies and doublespeak in their heads so that they believe its ok to torture people... somehow these people being tortured deserve it because they want to kill us.... So many stupid people out there... so many bigotted people out there... and the education system is sytematically being dumbed down and patriotized up to ruin future generations.
