Have we found a primary challenger to President Obama? Michael Moore thinks that Matt Damon might be a good choice.

4. Nance Rants: Moore's The Pity
Dear Michael Moore,

I readily admit to not knowing who is being touted as a viable presidential candidate this week in the blogosphere. I have tried to keep up, and I don’t seem able to do so any longer.

I realize that the current mood among many internetz patriots demands at least one new candidate in every 24-hour news cycle, and potential personalities are plucked from the day’s headlines. Andrew Cuomo stands up for marriage equality – “Andrew Cuomo for President!” Al Gore gives a stirring speech about climate change – “Al Gore for President!” Michael Moore talks about the importance of unions and job creation – “Michael Moore for President!”

I for one don’t see the presidency as a prize to be handed out to the originator of this week’s snappiest soundbyte. I believe the process requires a bit more thought than mere reliance on name recognition, a bit more depth than a bumper-sticker slogan or a popular tweet, and a bit more commitment than a "Fuck, yeah!" reply on a message board.

In view of my present confusion as to why it is somehow necessary, or even remotely productive, to unfurl the “___ For President!” banner on a daily basis, you can imagine how flummoxed I am when you – a regular for President! contender yourself – decide to “virtually nominate” Matt Damon as a serious contender for the highest office in the land.

10. All I would ask of a candidate is that he/she be intelligent, reasonably
honest, love life, love America and have natural leadership skills. There must be 20 million Americans who could fill that bill. However, our political process seems to systematically screen out and reject such people.

11. seems like the only path left for democrats,.
The Democratic party is obviously over, no longer functioning. Obama has shown himself to be a republican (Ronald Reagan was more progressive!), and the republicans are now some sort of founding-fathers anarchist with a military/police state fetish cult group, just keeping pressure further to the way out there right-wing in the media,.

It seems that the Dems. have moved so far to the right, that forcing people by law, to buy for-profit corporate health insurance, is some how a real healthcare plan for the people,. that continuing and expanding multiple overseas wars, as well as criminal prison/torture camps in occupied foreign lands, is acceptable defense of the county, that appointing the same Bu$h corporate-banker financial advisers to run the economy and create laws and regulations of the economic system is some how 'progressive',. (same for the EPA, FDA, etc. etc.)

What else is there? Leave the big D. party behind and start a new one, New Democrats ain't a bad angle. However is seems at this point the system is fully corrupted, to the point that no change from within is even possible,. perhaps it is time to just step back, work on local community and food /energy resiliency that is off the grid,. and watch as the system eats it self. If Obama does not take radical action very soon then this will be the only course left.

15. IMO, President Obama has clearly shown that he is not qualified
to lead America out of it's terrible situation. Yet, he will almost surely be the Democratic Candidate in 2012, thereby guaranteeing that the situation will further deteriorate.
If he runs but fails to get elected, the Republicans would "screw everything" up even worse.

What kind of choices are those?

However, should the President decide to step down, we might be able to find a high quality candidate who could lead us. But, the chances of Obama stepping down are nil.

In summary, this Country is destined to be leaderless for at least five more years. That is a recipe for total disaster.
