2. SCHIP and the Iraq War should NOT be Tied together (repost)
And here is why.

If the children grow to be healthy, and are still in poverty, they will be more likely to volunteer, or more likely a draft, for the military.

Once in the military, they would then be sent to the meat grinder called Iraq. And soon, again, Afghanistan. I don't even want to think what attacking Iran would do to our military.

Now, if the children grow and are not healthy, the military will reject them and they will live.

This will save a whole generation of children!

3. But he's pointing out the hypocrisy of spending so much money on a
war when we could be spending money on health insurance for children. Makes perfect sense to me.

6. If there were no wars
Then let's spend the money on the healthcare.

But to get this war to stop, ALL resources have to be denied to the military. That may mean a generation of children grow up unhealthy so they are unfit to volunteer, or be drafted, for the military.

These are the hard decisions that the Democratic majority must make in order to stop this war.

9. Don't you agree that this war is "Twisted"?
I have heard them talking about being in Iraq for 10+ years. That is enough time for a generation of under-privileged children to grow up to be military aged.

I don't want a generation of children to die in a never ending war in Iraq for *'s lie.

10. Hey, I'm all for denying financial resources to stop this illegal occupation;
that way, more money could go to this healthcare bill. But to condemn children to ill health so they're too sick to volunteer is pretty twisted. And that does not fall under the category of 'hard decision' imo. I am surprised that even entered your head.

12. Nothing we have done to date has worked...
to get this war stopped.

What am I supposed to do, just stop trying?

13. Well keep trying because this is over-the-top; you want to deny kids
healthcare so they'll be too sick-or dead-to enlist. Does not compute, for me.

14. It's just this war...
It's just this war and that, that lyin' son-of-a-b*tch BUSH. I would never hurt kids. You know that.

5. Where did that quote come from?
I said nothing about killing. I abhor killing of any kind.

7. That's what your comment sounds like.
Keep kids from dying in a war by keeping them too unhealthy to list (like that's going to work). And BTW, if they are too unhealthy to enlist, they'll die sooner anyway.

11. We have to deny the military the resources...
they need to conduct this war.

How is this any different from saying we want our government to cut off funding for the war? People are a resource to a military just as is money and machinery are resources.
