4. K/R
I'm beginning to understand why some of my libertarian friends want to do away with the Federal Reserve altogether.

As of now, I don't so much see a reason to do away with the Fed as much as I simply see a reason to replace the Fed's current Board of Governors. Whatever central banking system we have, it must be transparent and responsible. Creating money just in order to give it to the banks is far from responsible.

Edited on Thu Dec-01-11 01:20 AM by defendandprotect
Couldn't pay absolute attention, but evidently when we borrow from the FED

they don't profit directly, but it gets worked thru various of their private

banks which do private.

Anyone else listening today?

...in standing UP for the 99%.
I wish other "Democrats" would follow.
If they DID,
America wouldn't NEED an OWS.

You will know them by their WORKS,
not by their excuses.

the kind of thing OWS should strongly get behind, instead of refusing to endorse anything specific and pushing only for a vaguely defined "change."

19. They have endorsed specific issues. What do you mean
'vaguely defined change'. There is absolutely nothing vague about what they are demanding. Have you been following this at all, or just following Erin Burnett, the Goldman Sachs poster girl and her buddies in the Corporate media?

That is why Kucinich endorsed THEM. Because they are the ONLY voices making specific demands.

38. This is "vague" to you?
A major Objective of Occupy LA is to END CORPORATISM on the National, State and Local levels. We define CORPORATISM as the merger between Corporate and State Power. Some examples of this nexus are:

· the pervasive influence of lobbyists throughout government
· the revolving door between the private and public sectors as corporate executives and lobbyists become governmental regulators and legislators and then move back into the private sector again.
· the awarding of public contracts to private politically and economically connected interests
· the dependency and predominance of the public Electoral process on private and Corporate funding
· commonplace legislative action blatantly prejudicial to the public interest and grossly beneficial to favored Corporate interests
· the elevation of Corporations to the legal status of persons
· wars waged in the interest of Corporate profits.

As long as the above described condition is allowed to persist, the interests of the People will be prejudiced in favor of the Corporate interests of the 1%. We will seek out all peaceful means, including citizen legislative, legal and protest action to END CORPORATISM."

16. Audit the feds, I believe, Dennis makes the left feel like they are making a difference
thats his job, HR 6200 comes to mind...

Will Kucinich Reintroduce HR6200- Hand Counted Paper Ballots?

No matter how much time and energy progressives spend attempting to change the direction of the country, none of it matters without real election reform before the next election 2008. Last October Congressman Kucinich introduced HR6200 as reported by DUer "Land Shark"

ANNOUNCEMENT: “Introduced, 20 co-sponsors HR 6200 -paper ballots, hand counted, results posted at precinct. This bill came from this movement.

This weekend in Cleveland Ohio, the “We Count Conference” have been hearing from great speakers about election fraud and the movement to return accountability and integrity to US elections. Speakers included State Sen. Marc Dan, Greg Coleridge, Paul Lehto, , Ron Baiman PhD, Jonathan Simon, Richard Hayes Phillips PhD , Bob Koehler , Bob Fitrakis, Harvey Wasserman, & Mark Crispin Miller. The highlight of the event was Congressmen Dennis Kucinich and his announcement of new legislation as reported by DUers Autorank and LandShark…

I’m at the We Count 2006 Conference in Cleveland. After a break for dinner, we resumed with an address by Dennis Kucinich, D, OH. He made the remarks below and then announced that he’s introduced H.R. 6200, a bill to guarantee that the 2006 election will be conducted on “hand counted, paper ballots, counted and posted at the precinct level” with the process open to all to observe. This was a real stunner. There is some legislation out there on stop gap measures but this is the whole 9 yards, the ultimate in election intgrity - Machines are Gone under this legislation…GONE.

24. Abolish the FED
http://abolishthefederalreserve.org/

JFK and the Fed

On June 4, 1963, John F. Kennedy signed a virtually unknown Presidential decree, Executive Order 11110 , a mere four months before his assassination on November 22, 1963. This decree returned to the U.S. Federal government, the Constitutional right to create and "to issue silver certificates based on any silver bullion, silver, or standard silver dollars in the Treasury."

This meant that based on the amount of silver physically held in the U.S. Treasury's vault, the government could introduce new money into circulation. As a result, more than $4 billion of new "Kennedy Bills" were created through the U.S. Treasury and were put into circulation in $2 and $5 denominations. $10 and $20 United States Notes (USN) were being printed by the Treasury Department when Kennedy was assassinated, but were never put into circulation. It appears obvious that President Kennedy knew the Federal Reserve Notes (FRN) being used as the purported legal currency were contrary to the Constitution of the United States of America.

Kennedy knew that if the silver-backed USN were widely circulated, they would have eliminated the demand for FRN. This is a very simple matter of economics. The USN was backed by silver and the FRN was not only backed by nothing of intrinsic value, but was also an instrument of debt. Executive Order 11110 should have prevented the national debt from reaching its current level (virtually all of the nearly $9 trillion in federal debt has been created since 1963).

Had LBJ or any subsequent President enforced Kennedy's Executive Order 11110, It would have almost immediately given the U.S. Government the ability to repay its debt without going to the private Federal Reserve Banks and being charged interest to create new "money". However, in 1964, Kennedy's successor, Lyndon B. Johnson "caved in", stating that, "Silver has become too valuable to be used as money." And thus the Kennedy bills were removed from circulation.

26. History is repeating itself
Edited on Thu Dec-01-11 07:45 AM by Eagle Atarian
When I was a kid my favorite teacher (my history teacher) always told us how important it was that we children study hard in school but especially her history class!

She told us we MUST learn from history or it will repeat itself.

IF we don't learn (what our mistakes were) history WILL repeat itself

This link is a great way to see THE HISTORY (currency Banking and the Fed) and see, just how it is that history, is obviously once again, repeating itself...

The information is condensed and plainly stated, easy to read, easy to understand, and a very thorough presentation

21. He needs people in Congress who will back him.
It's more than clear now that most of them will not, which means most of them need to go. If they were replaced with people who like Kucinich, put the country first and represented those who elected them, he would have passed bills that would have straightened this country out long ago.

When people say 'he is not effective' without explaining why, that is an attempt to hide the fact that he is and has been so right about most issues for years now. I don't know how he stands working with the dishonorable people he has to try to work with every day.

Edited on Thu Dec-01-11 09:49 AM by civilisation
Money is debt. See; http://www.moneyasdebt.net/

As long as some can generate unlimited money/power from a system that takes it from the many for the needs of the few there will be no justice or peace, and the world will continue to degrade and kill itself.. ,

However, another world is posible.
