Elizabeth Edwards mentions John Edwards can compete everywhere, and mentions how in 2004, contrary to public opinion of supporters of other candidates, the Kerry campaign ran no ads in "red states" after picking Edwards as the VP nominee. The argument that Edwards did not help win a state is hogwash, because, the Kerry campaign didn't even try. It's not necessarily John Kerry's own fault, before any of his fans are offended.

1. For those who argue that Edwards did not win N.C. in 2004
here is why. Kerry did not fight in N.C. in 2004. Kerry kicked himself and Edwards by refusing to fight in red states. He may have been following the advice of the DLC DNC and McAuliffe at the time. I don't know. Does anyone else?

2. Elizabeth fails to mention John Edwards also won the South Carolina Dem primary.

4. Maybe because it's not relevant
Elizabeth is making the point that with the right candidate, Democrats can win elections in so-called "Red" States.

Her point is about winning elections. Not about winning Dem primaries.

3. Elizabeth Edwards is one of the most effective speakers
of any of our candidates or their surrogates.

Not taking away anything from Michelle or Big Dawg himself, but I really like Elizabeth.

5. Elizabeth is great, but she is not the candidate.
In fact Elizabeth is on the record saying that we should base our choice on the candidates, not on their spouses.

The argument she is making does seem to make sense, but on its own it won't win her husband the nomination.

John Edwards needs to win this year's South Carolina primary, then he might have a shot.
