14. Not really, Iowa turnout and New Hampshire's tendencies
Only 11-12% of voters in Iowa voted in the caucasus; NH was and still is apparently a bit too conservative for most of New England.

Edited on Wed Jan-09-08 01:10 AM by ashlarah
from the grassroots. It is the only way. They won't make it easy, but if Americans understand the stakes - Democracy itself - they will take up the cause.

Edwards is the perfect leader for this cause. He is the real thing and will fight for real people.

CON can see its end everytime they are forced to broadcast one of his speeches.

31. I'm With You... As A Boomer Who Has Been Around For A Long Time
I just don't get it myself!! I have stated this so many times now I feel like a broken record, but if it's NOT John Edwards, I'm OUT! This is my LAST campaign as an activist, I can't do this anymore!

It's just like beating your head against a wall, and FINALLY you realize that your head REALLY hurts, is bruised and battered, and that says NOTHING about the heartbreak!

Some will call it being a "sore loser" but it's ANYTHING but... as I said, I've been in the trenches for a very long time, since McGovern... I KNOW how to lose because it's happened all too often. I just can't take anymore of the stupid NONSENSE anymore. And all the fighting that goes on here is completely over the top! If someone just logged in here from another country thinking this was a DEMOCRATIC blog site, I'm sure they wouldn't believe it. I suppose a lot can be blamed on the last 7 years and what The Idiot, Decider and his cohorts have done to this country, but there comes a time when DEMOCRATS need to be held accountable too!

Since 2006, we've seen so little change at all... and it seems we AREN'T going to get any either. My husband asked me a couple of days ago why I put myself through this and I have been thinking about it ever since. I can't come up with a good reason anymore! What I felt I was doing was trying to make a "better" place for those who come after me, but in reality I can't say that anymore. I really don't think my little voice is going to be heard by our government, and I don't feel like they give a rat's ass! Call it what you will, but for me it's just being deeply HURT, and an overwhelming feeling of loss. I understand each generation brings different views, THAT I can live with, but for a country that was founded on the premise of Democracy to let itself be run by the "powers that be" doesn't look or feel like Democracy at all!

Living in Florida has given me a good taste of how my vote may not have ever been counted and that it may NEVER be counted again.

44. Yeah, I've pretty much lost my appetite for big "P" politics these days
I now spend most of my activist energies working on local environmental issues. I find that to be for more rewarding than working on campaigns anymore. And this coming from someone who earned a living for a time doing campaign work.

It's just become too much, the loses too great. I just can't muster the enthusiasm I use to.

37. It's all "IMAGE", that's why. Obama gives "hope", and that's what people want.
No substance, no real plan, just talk "hope" and people will flock.

8. I was reminded that the three states to have the first
Edited on Wed Jan-09-08 12:09 AM by mac2
choice of a Presidential candidate are all Conservative...and rural. In Iowa they are allowed to attend the caucus even though they are Republican. Was that on purpose DNC?

Record votes because the Republicans are showing up to vote for a candidates who their's can beat? Looks that way to me from here. We don't get to vote in a primary until February.

Seems the push is away from liberal states who are most of the democrats by population. Edwards may be right...the other 48 matter.

Many industrial states have question about jobs and the bad trade deals, rights, war, etc. Unions are one thing...world government and open borders with huge influx of illegals (from all other the world) are another.

The discussion and issue are framed in those first three states by the media. Get out of my voting booth...talking RW heads!!

17. My voice will be heard February 5th
when I caucus for Edwards in Colorado. I went to a local Dem meeting tonight, and I can tell you I won't be alone! He had strong supporters at the meeting and many leaners.

This really is a grassroots campaign and we will have to fight corporate media every day to win it. It is critical that we do because we desperately need a president to fight for the people.

Go John Go!

As a homeless person, I was discounted and ignored by the Colorado Dems, so I'm trying hard to start my own group -- of poor folk supporting Edwards!

35. I liked it too. Better than Obama's I thought
Though in the interest of full disclosure I was starting to nod off. Obama talks about change - Americans want change, need change. But Edwards talks about what the people need in very personal terms. I find that powerful and authentic.

36. Our chance to prove the MSM wrong - call to action
The MSM have written Edwards out of the story from the first day. Without all the money and without any free press he is still in the hunt. Let's prove the MSM wrong. Get out your address book and email everyone you know, especially in Nevada and South Carolina, that they need to show the country that our elections are about more than contributions collected and that they can't be decided by Chris Matthews and John King. You know they are going to continue to cut him out. He needs us. Blog, write, complain, donate, volunteer. Show the MSM whose election this is. They seem to think they are the ones who get to decide. This is a call to action. Wuit talking about it and DO IT NOW.
