I am looking to see if the entire 18 minutes of interview, as Jon Stewart alludes to, is available anywhere.

8. Nothing wrong with watching the youtube clip.
Viacom dont make any money off it. In fact they will probably ask to have it removed soon. Nothing wrong with a little copyright violation.

4. Yes he did
and he wasn't coming from a mean place in doing it either...it was sort of like 2 guys who know each other sitting around talking-one with a really weird agenda and the other a somewhat worried about his friend's deteriorating mental condition...an intervention

13. NO! Stewart made him look better than he was!
You notice all the obvious edits in the piece? I think they included the "white flashes" to make sure we knew they were edits. I think Goldberg got insane at moments, or Stewart got mad and called him on his stupidity, and they had to cut the piece to air properly. Not even with the paucity of material these days, what with the WGA strike, did they leave this piece alone. You will never find the unedited interview, but in about ten years Stewart may describe what really happened, once Goldberg has disappeared completely from the public scene.

21. I hope it doesn't take 10 years to watch the whole video.
:-(

I will go to the daily show site and request it be put up in it's entirety. If enough people do that...

3. mr goldberg is one of those rich boys that can do nothin but write how
the rest of us should live. Seems to be a lot of em. Ever heard of jay ambrose? These guys never did a hard days work in there life but try to tell the rest of us how to live our lives. They get their so call journalist jobs because of their rich connections.

Mr. Goldberg and his ilk think that if they call us fascists maybe it will take the attention off them.

5. He favors micro versus macro liberalism... What a cerebral lightweight.
By definition, faschist power comes from the will of the majority. When, in the last 25 years has liberalism been voted into power by the majority?

12. he's playing stupid word games
"classic liberalism" means Adam Smith, means, as it did 200 years ago, conservatism. He thinks of himself and his fellow shills as classic liberals because they believe, supposedly, in "free markets" and "laissez faire" and low taxes and limited government just like all the "heroes" of the past.

So, the RWNM having made liberal a bad word, now wants to do the same thing with progressive. Similar to Coulter's book "Treason" he wants to argue that Democrats = communists = fascists.

I disagree with Stewarts contention that liberals are individualists. Maybe DLC "liberals" are because they are trying to win elections in a society where individualism is one of the ruling ideas, especially after the "ME decade" (1980s).

Goldberg does not even understand his own argument. Did he even write the book? Why is organic food fascist? Because it takes something very personal - what you eat, and in the extreme, a group of fanatics will control what you eat, in the name of your health. Big Brother knows best.

6. Goldberg gives the word "asshat" new meaning.....
His total ignorance would be embarrassing if those "morans" were capable of being embarrassed.
Stewart skewered him, and the dimwit never even knew it.

That I can take some idiotic ideas, twist words and situations so as to "prove" those idiotic ideas, and get a book deal.

I wonder if he actually believe that crap or if he knows hes just another cog in the repuke brainwashing machine.

Edited on Fri Jan-18-08 07:01 PM by CJCRANE
The only reason he didn't was because he was a guest.

If you've ever seen the clip of Stewart on Crossfire you'll see what I mean.

On edit: Although I'm guessing that your post was probably sarcasm...

16. Chris Kelly at the Huffington Post reviewed the book.
Here's his description of Goldberg's arguement: "Liberals are like Fascists because Fascists told people to do things and so do Liberals. The End."

19. OMG that is a great review! Godberg ripped off the Simpsons AGAIN for his book title MUST READ
http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=MzNjM2E2YzgzOWVmZjg0ZDNkZjYyMTMwNTVlNjg4ODc=

Try reading that (at the link) if you can.

Goldberg argues his point with a reviewer, who isn't present :eyes:

YEARS of material here for Godlberg-he can both selfpromote and selfvictimize himself for years off this one book.

20. Here's another post by Kelly on Goldberg's choice of Wilson for a liberal fascist.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/chris-kelly/jonah-goldberg-the-tough_b_79861.html

Jonah Goldberg, the lovable contrarian gadfly, is looking to push your buttons, and from the available excerpts and the reviews so far, it seems he'll be doing it by sticking it to Woodrow Wilson, who's been getting a free ride for far too long.

Woodrow Wilson? We're supposed to get steamed that someone is talking smack about Woodrow Wilson? It's like blaspheming against Phar Lap.

How did Goldberg get stuck with the unenviable task of trying to be irreverent about Woodrow Wilson? Because the Kennedys and FDR are played out. Christopher Hitchens has already done Mother Teresa and Ann Coulter cashed in on re-evaluating the last polarizing historical figure a few living people could actually pick out of a police line-up, Joseph McCarthy.

(One advantage Goldberg has over Coulter? His tits are real.)

24. Finding more ways to smear dems. I'm progressive doesn't mean
his definition of progressivism. Like saying conservatism means you're gay because conservative means conserving energy and same sex members are already comfortable and familiar with each other and therefore don't have to expend energy trying to understand something alien to your nature like the opposite sex............That is exactly how full of shit Goldberg is. He adores mental masturbation and wants everyone to see how insightful he must be to come up with something so unique. His supporters say, "As long as it smears liberals, I'm all for it".

Heightened stupidity mixed with self indulgent sarcasm add up to terminal uniqueness. Such a smug self proclaimed intellectual, he's gone beyond credibility on this one.

28. Hello....it's the 21st century...
Jonah, Honey-lamb, H.G. Wells was a man of the late 19th and early 20th century. Mussolini???? They strung him up in the 1940's, no? Could you perhaps join us in the 21st century? The Democratic Party used to hate Abraham Lincoln, but that doesn't mean Progressives today approve of slavery!

Like Ann Coulter, these light weight fools prove they know NOTHING about liberals by writing entire books about them. They must just be incapable of understanding the Liberal way of thinking. And their complete misses speak volumes as to what they and their ilk really think of the world and how it should work. Scary and pathetic.
