I have no words for what the Democratic Party just lost. My heart aches for all of us.

I watched it. I watched the whole thing, through tears. These people are my friends. We worked together, we played together, and on caucus nights, yes, many of us got drunk together. We will never be apart in our hearts.

21. OMG... OMG... What HAVE THEY Done?? I'm Crying All Over Again!

Buffie St. Marie, at least I think that's who it was... sang a song a long time ago that said something like "look what they've done to my song!" I say look what they've done to this man!!

WHY?? A three-letter word, but I can think of so many four-letter ones when I think about how THIS MAN of the PEOPLE has been treated! My heart has ached for so long, and I think it got broken when he "suspended." I'm crying all over again and can hardly see what I'm writing.

I know I will do what I can to continue forward with his DREAM! We WILL rise up and UNITE... WE MUST!

26. These are the "sad days in Hell" that people often refer to. We have lost

the one true champion of the people that could have turned this country around and steered it on its proper course.

At my ripe old age, I have lost all hope of ever living to see the dream I dreamt during Edwards' campaign come to pass in this country and the planet we live on.

And not knowing exactly who or what stole that dream from us makes me very angry. Sure the media was complicit every step of the way, but they're not the ones responsible for the sudden, unexpected, and uncalled-for shock of Edwards standing up in New Orleans last week announcing, while stuttering for the first time ever in public, that he was suspending his campaign.

Meanwhile, we're down to the prospect of another Clinton administration, warts and all, or, if we're really unlucky, an Obama administration, or lord have mercy, a McCain nightmare.

It all just makes me want to :puke:

55. FIRST OFF... As One Of Those Hippie-Generation People, You ARE NOT

yet a "ripe old age!" My mother-in-law who lives with me and is 95 IS a "ripe old age!" Sixty isn't all that old if you say it FAST! Yeah, I remember when we though 30 was old, but I'm still able to get around fine, my brain still works and I'm very active... even with some physical ailments creeping upon me.

As for seeing that "dream" you may be correct there, but we MUST do all we can to keep his message alive and work toward showing that WE are still viable and have not forgotten his dream. There are those who will come after us.

As one who has said many times here at DU that this will be my LAST time out as an activist after the GE, if there is a way to keep HIS DREAM alive I will do what I can because we MUST do better. Still I can't support the other two, not from what I heard and seen. I don't say this lightly, but in my heart of hearts I REALLY DON'T see much difference between our two and McCain. I know many disagree with me, but I've lost so much respect for so many in D.C. and then you have THE POWERS THAT BE working against "we the people!"

OMG....I recognize almost every staffer in this video. It is sad but it brings back the most wonderful memories.

I've had this song in my head ever since Edwards suspended his campaign. It's from Jesus Christ Superstar. Some of the lyrics fit....some don't but it has been playing in my head over and over. I just didn't want this campaign to end like it did.

Must not be allowed to be snuffed out. What a wonderful yet sad tribute. Mr. Edwards will have my support with whatever endeavors he continues to address poverty in our country. I was only beginning to help with making phone calls, so it is so good to see just what went into the campaign. And even though it is sad, we will always know we picked the right candidate. We have a mess down here in Florida as many know and this AM on C-Span they were actually talking about a Re-Vote here and from what I gather, it's being lead to some extent by the Clinton campaign. So it will only mean that Edwards will get even fewer votes!! The state screwed up with the HELP of the Repuke legislature, Karen Thurman AND Bill Nelson!!

Many say it was Howard Dean, but I don't buy that... the rules had been set and they should have stayed that way. It almost makes me think that Bill Nelson, DLC'er that he is is just a Repuke in disguise!!!

I hope that John Edwards will be back organizing a nationwide effort to get that dirty word, "poverty," back into the public consciousness. I will support him in that effort or whatever he decides to do at least in spirit and hopefully as a volunteer.

We need a strong national movement "outing" the enormous poverty problem in this country to focus public attention on poverty across racial, age and geographic lines. Edwards is just the person to lead such an effort. I hope that the effort will have a strong legal component.

we lost our chance and we can blame it on the goddamned corporatist m**herf**ker bastards running the m$m. what a man. what a dream. his exit makes me feel like i did in june of '68 'cause at the tender age of 11 1/2 i knew what we lost when they killed bobby. i lived through the riots, the war every nite at dinner, jfk... and then bobby. i knew it was over and i was right. i have lived my life since then regretting what could have been and have held a constant sorrow in my heart for it. i thought je was going to finally revive those hopes and dreams that died in '68. how sad.

i probably don't have another 40 years in me to wait for another chance and i just don't see it coming around again. call me a pessimist, but there hasn't been much in the way of boosting my hopes over the years. clinton? bill, that is. his presidency was sabotaged from day one by the evil bastard poor losers in the repug party. if they had given him half the respect the dems give sitting repug presidents the dream might have materialized after all. instead? constant "swiftboating." for that i'll NEVER forgive the repugs which is why obama INFURIATES me. at any rate...
