1. Now let me get this straight

The reason the phone companies needed immunity was because there was a period when the Bush administration involved them in ILLEGAL wiretapping. However, since last August, Congress made it LEGAL for the administration to conduct a whole range of wiretapping activities and to involve the telecom companies in this wiretapping.

If they have pulled out of deals with the Bush administration this week, then they must have been involved in activities that go well beyond what Congress authorized last August.

So what have these guys been doing the past 6 months that STILL puts the telecoms at risk?

2. And doesn't the current law allow

the administration to easily get a FISA court order? And wouldn't that COMPEL cooperation from the telecoms?

Why is nobody calling them on this bullshit?
