Texas is voting in record numbers

TX Primary: Early Vote Totals, Through Monday 2/25

* 419,904 Democrats have already voted through Monday -- 347,216 more voters than at this time in 2004. I'm never going to stop being amazed by these figures.

* Ken Molberg, a longtime friend and expert of all things Dallas County, pointed this out in the comments to yesterday's post:

Dallas County broke the '06 total vote yesterday, with over 57,000 early votes (not counting the mail ballots). We've looked at about 55,000 of those, and as best we can tell, virtually half have no '02, '04 or '06 primary history. Less than 3,000 have previous R primary history over the same period.

* Harris County -- the third largest county in the United States-- is on pace to shatter the total vote from 2004 just with early voters. Harris County is working to turn blue in November, much like Dallas did in '06 and Travis did in '04, and this record turnout is sure to help that.

1. My polling place is full today compared to moderately busy the first day.

Historically the begining of early voting is the busiest but now everybody here wants to vote and it is so easy to vote when you can vote at your leisure.
We should keep the Presidaential polls open for a week in every state.

3. I love early voting

I voted on the first day. I always vote early since I try to volunteer on election day.

If we take back the Texas House in November, lots of things are going to change on election reform. We might be able to move election day registration bills through the House. It'll take time. We won't be able to get them past Perry, but things are changing.

There are some people who could be voting in this primary that are already shut out - because they didn't register before Feb 4th. And that's a shame.

2. VOTE BY MAIL... TAKE THE DAY OFF...

i offer my adult children a reward dinner for all arriving with "voter receipt" or equal proof of having voted.... one day they will realize the value of their vote... until then, i dont tell them HOW to vote (though they seem to tilt heavily to the left) but i do tell them to vote.

for ANYONE who thinks they will have trouble at the polling place..... a SIMPLE form to vote by mail takes care of that

NOW IS THE TIME TO PUSH REGISTRATION ETC.....

November 4 is the date to UNITE behind WHOEVER is the Dem Rep....
November 5 is official Republican voting date, due to expected high turnout of Dems on the 4th

4. Vote by mail will work for November

It's too late for the primary. The request for a ballot for the March 4th primary had to be postmarked by Feb 26th. But it's not too late to early vote or to show up and vote on March the 4th.
